I start off this mascara post with a bias towards this one in particular. Cargo TexasLash Mascara
has brought the down home honey’s lashes here to us in L.A. without any high maintenance involved. I’ve been using it and singing it’s praises since the day I brought it home several weeks ago. You can get fabulous lashes with the first coat on this one. A second coat is stunning and I recommend you do it very quickly since if it’s already drying, the second coat is sure to clump. I have not had to do more than 2 coats of this mascara to get the desired effect and as a matter of fact, Cargo only recommends one coat of this maximum volume wonder. This is one of the latest mascara innovations that are aplenty right now. This is a tubular mascara… and I don’t mean like Valley Girl speak “totally tubular!”. I really mean that the mascara actually forms a tube around your lashes. When you remove it with your eye make-up remover, it’s going to come off in a full piece for the lash, often making it look like you are actually losing a lash… the first time I was concerned I was removing my own lashes. It has a plastic-y smell that might catch you off guard at first and now I don’t pay any mind to it at all. It was just different.
Too Faced Lash Injection
was one of the first elastic polymer mascaras that was brought to my attention more than a year ago. In concept, it’s very similar to the Cargo TexasLash, however I found that the performance just is not the same. After a few hours, this one flaked on me and it looked like I was wearing my lashes under my eyes like a faux fur coat. It also has a scent that may throw you off at first. While this innovation is certainly impressive– I think it’s been improved since conception.
I would be lying if I said that I only used the Cargo mascara. Why, a girl’s gotta have choices, right? I have several mascaras in my drawer that I favor for different reasons but I seem to reach for the Cargo pretty darn often. I’m itching to try one of those new rubber or plastic bristled mascaras so keep your eyes peeled for that soon.

Can you explain why some mascaras have a primer with them? I just bought an Ulta brand mascara with a primer on one end and mascara on the other.
gracias!
Hi Katie,
Thanks for your question. I guess the real answer to that question is best answered by the company who is touting it’s claims. In my personal experience, primers were one of the ways to help the mascara adhere to thin lashes. There was a huge surge in the market for just primers by themselves and then someone at once had an aha! moment where they decided they would make it a 2 in 1 product. Some find it very convenient and like it, while others would rather go an all-in-one route.
