Of all the questions I answer, I find that “How do I keep my eyeshadow on?” is by far, the most prominent. Put it on, and don’t move is my answer. Just kidding! A more practical answer is, use an eyeshadow primer. It’s an amazing tool of the trade and it makes life so much easier. A plethora of offerings have just been released by brands to get in on the action in all of this holiday gift-giving and I found some new products! I discovered the new look of Sephora Brand in my daily rounds– I just had to test drive a few of these and determine their worth. One of them happens to be the Sephora Brand Eyeshadow Primer Pot while we’re on the subject.
Upon initial examination, the pot itself is SO small. It made it really difficult to get the product onto my finger. I tried using a synthetic brush to apply after that and it seemed to be a no-go as well. So it was back to my finger. The consistency… kind of tacky. I thought it was too sticky. I could see it working for the short-term, for those glittery looks– yet not a very practical primer. One day I patted on a mineral eyeshadow, by the afternoon it had creased. The next I used a regular shadow with a lot of pigment to see if the color would stay true, the color kind of melted away and it creased. I felt like my lower lid could stick to my upper lid and I would forcibly walk around with bug eyes. *cue the wah-wah-wah sound* No-go Sephora Brand with this one. I would not recommend this product nor use it again.
Next up was the Sephora Brand Peel-Off Lip Peel. The purpose of this product is to remove any flakes of dry skin caused by chapped lips. The clear gel goes on a little thick and has a strong minty smell. It was so minty that at first it had almost the burn of a lip plumper, then it cooled down and tingled a little bit. I could not really find instructions for this product which was odd, so I used my best judgement. After applying, it dried in about 15 minutes and I attempted to peel it off. Kind of like one of those peel-off masks of yesteryear. I remember using those so long ago on my face and I was fascinated but that’s another story for another time. Anyway, I could not get the lip peel to come off easily and resorted to rubbing it off in small shreds with my finger. I could see the point in this, but to be honest you could do this with a washcloth if you wanted and save yourself the $12. I’ve even gently used a small amount of granulated sugar in the past as a scrub for my lips and then applied lip balm. That seemed to work even better than this product.
Based on my use of these two products, I’d have to say I’m not impressed with these so-called “Tricks of The Trade”. I’ll try other products in the Sephora Brand line, I just am not going to expect much from this beauty powerhouse’s private label.

Thanks for the tips; Sephora has a lot of nice stuff, but sometimes they miss the mark. I use a bit of salt and tepid water to scrub my lips sometimes.
Ya, for sure the Urban Decay Shadow Primer Potion is the best! Thanks for the reviews; I’ve thought of trying other things & it’s good to have a reliable opinion on if they’re worth it or not.
