REVIEW: Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare

by Amber on November 24, 2008

in anti-aging,exfoliation,moisturizer,new products,product reviews,skincare

Dear Liz Earle, where have you been my entire life?  She’s been extremely busy.

Liz Earle is a multi-faceted, award-winning Member of the British Empire, author, television host, beauty expert, and co-founder of Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare from the UK.  I had the pleasure of meeting this angelic woman and her talented team of experts at a function this month.  I was able to get an up close and personal behind-the-scenes look at the brand and the philosophy behind the creation that is Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare.  Liz Earle’s line uses only the highest quality plants, vitamins, essential oils, and herbs for her products and are truly for all ages and skin types.  This venture initially began to fulfill the needs she had with her own problems with eczema over 13 years ago, and since then has grown to become Britain’s largest independent beauty brand.  Pretty amazing, don’t you think?

What does that mean for you?  Skincare that’s targeted, effective, and dependable.  I can tell you that’s what I’ve found over the last 11 days with the use of her line.  As a beauty blogger, I have to use an innumerable amount of products– and if someone told me I could only use Liz Earle Skincare for the rest of my life, I would be as pleased as punch.  That’s how pleasurable and effective I have found it to be, in only 11 days!

First, we have the Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser.  This is a dual-phase cream cleanser that cleanses and then gently exfoliates by using one of the muslin cloths provided.  It’s highly concentrated and I appreciate the fact that it’s a measured pump– there’s no waste at all as one pump is all you need for one application.  It smells heavenly and gently removes all makeup– including mascara, along with the stress of your day.  I swear this has helped dissolve some of my blackheads in the past few days and I feel a non-stripping clean that I’ve never felt before.  This is the FINEST cream cleanser I have ever used on my skin.  It’s super soothing and the eucalyptus scent ensures me I’ve used a great cleanser.  In addition, it relaxes me.  This really is her “hero” product and I can see why the top beauty experts in the world think so too.

Taking the cleansing ritual a step further, I used the Instant Boost Skin Tonic which is a remarkable soothing toner.  Organic aloe, calendula, cucumber, vitamin E, and rose-scented geranium transported my skin into pure bliss.  After using this on a cotton pad, I feel like I’ve been transported to a luxurious spa where I’m enjoying an expensive facial.

We could stop there with those 2 products and I would be satisfied with her line, but I feel that her others deserve special recognition as well.  The Superskin Moisturiser is targeted for dry and more mature skin types, but I could see it being beneficial for almost anyone.  Being a 30-something, my skin has extra struggles.  Trying to find the right balance of ingredients to soothe, provide free-radical defense, hydrate, minimize the signs of aging, and then tuck me into bed at night is becoming more of a chore.  Thankfully the Superskin Moisturiser does all of those things minus turning down my sheets.  I guess I’ll live without that, and when you have everything else covered, all is well!  It’s free of mineral oils, rich in Omegas, cranberry seed, borage, and rosehip oils– it’s earned the title of “Superskin” fair and square.  It’s also loaded in vitamin E, and I’m a huge proponent of that.

As if the preceeding products weren’t testament enough to how amazing and innovative this line is, I’ve got one more for you before your mind explodes.  Superskin Concentrate!  It’s made from 100% plant oils which are emollient and round out the whole Liz Earle experience.  At first I was leary about putting oils on my skin, and I could not have been more wrong.  The Superskin Concentrate has completely balanced the sebum regulation in my skin and has restored the vibrancy that I’ve been fighting to get back!  My skin feels hydrated, it’s clear, and it feels healthy again.  After cleansing and toning at night, I apply this aromatic liquid gold to my face and neck in an upward motion and gently massage in a circular direction.  I inhale the calming scents of neroli, argan, and rosehip oils and again I’m transported to that expensive European spa where I feel like I just received the best facial I’ve ever had.  In my home I refer to it as ”Awesome in a bottle”.  I apply my Superskin Moisturiser, and off the bed I go– looking forward to the morning where again I can use the cleanser!  The growing line of 36 products is free of animal extracts and is cruelty-free.  Currently in the States it can be found on lizearle.com, STUDIO at Fred Segal, and Brownes & Co Apothecary.  Enjoy!
