REVIEW: ModelCo Lip Lights, Lash Wand, & Skin Drink

Launched in 2002, ModelCo hit the scene out of Australia and has since become one of the most innovative beauty brands on the market today.  Let me tell you!  I had a chance to try 3 of their products recently– Lip Lights lip gloss, Skin Drink Airbrush Moisturizer, and the Lash Wand heated eyelash curler.  I was thrilled to see that a brand could take such everyday items like a lip gloss or moisturizer and turn them into a full-fledged party.

Available in 6 shades, I tried Lip Lights in Summer Nectar.  First, it’s a great lip gloss.  It’s shiny, not tacky, and has no icky taste at all.  Are you ready for the bonus?  Decked out like a top-of-the-line Caddy– this baby has LED lights (activated when gloss is open) and a mirror to ensure a perfect application while you’re out and about.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted to touch up and didn’t have access to a ladies room.  Or maybe I didn’t want to wait in line or shove my way through the sea of gals wanting to do the same thing just to get to the mirror.  Whip out your gloss and just go.  Wah-lah!  It’s not a cheesy application concept at all.  It’s functional and all the girls will be asking you where you got it.  Not to mention it will help you find your keys at the bottom of your purse at the end of the night!

With much trepidation I tried ModelCo’s Lash Wand.  I’ve written about lash curlers many times and I’ve said I’m vehemently against putting heat near my eyes.  But this my dear mavens is not the same thing as giving your Shu Uemura a blast from your scorching hair dryer and then going to town.  This is more precise and I feel it puts your lashes less at-risk for a mascara mishap.  Powered by a AAA battery, it’s easy to hold this wand at the base of the lash for about 20-30 seconds instead of crimping the bits out of your roots with a hot metal implement.  This gets the thumbs up from me.  I can’t believe I just said that!

Aside from the Lip Lights, Skin Drink is one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a long time.  There are plenty of spray lotions on the market. They still usually involve slathering yourself and then rubbing it in with your hands– so then what’s the purpose?  How about a moisturizer with a 360 degree spray nozzle providing a fine mist for head to toe, spray and go?  Green tea, ginko, papaya, and bamboo are just a few good-for-you ingredients in this alcohol and mineral oil free wonder.  No rubbing required.  Literally, you spray it and you are finished.  No mess… promise.  It smells like flowers, and faintly reminds me of rose water.

If you’re having trouble finding ModelCo in your area, you can find the location nearest you here, or purchase directly from ModelCo’s online shop.  When you make your way to check out those goodies, look for their new Disco Lights lip gloss with flashing LED lights hitting stores this month.  Think Lip Lights, but sassier (watch the video here).  I’m off to airbrush myself.

I loved this Post on the Lip Lights. It is about time a high shine lip gloss came out that has no weird taste, is not of a gummy texture , and it functional for the consumer. I have also battled with the eyelash curler, and eyelash heater. Having a few no so happy experiences along the way. The safeness, effectiveness, and easy in which the consumer can use the product is an A+. Finally the skin drink body spray is no fuss no mess, and excellently scented. The non-alcohol spray refreshes and energizes skin, leaving skin soft to the touch.
These products are a must have for your self and a friends stocking ;)

Thanks for reviewing this lip gloss! Since I’m a lip gloss junkie, I’m always looking for new products. This one sounds amazing. The mirror and light are such a great idea. Why didn’t someone think of this before? High gloss shine, a brush applicator (not a fan of sponge tip) and no weird taste…can’t wait to try it! Thanx again!!
