I remember my first press-on nail nightmare. It was in the eighties and they looked horrible. Half of them flipped off the moment I reached for something, while the others held on for dear life by an adhesive strip that ruined my nails after they finally came off. So don’t freak out when I tell you that you still have some time to get your nails done before New Year’s Eve and that it will involve press-on nails and a little effort on your part.
A few weeks ago, I gave Kiss Featherlight nails a test-drive on my nail beds, and what do you know? I LOVED THEM and I could not stop looking at them. I couldn’t believe that:
A.) I was wearing false nails
B.) That they were french tips
C.) That they were glue-on and they didn’t look tacky
They were extremely easy to put on, and with some patience, you can get them off when you are ready with some acetone without damage to the nailbed– if you don’t pull them off with force before then. Of all the falsies I’ve tried in the past few weeks, these seemed to fit all of my nails the best without any gaps or overlaps. I did give them a little bit of cut-down and a reshape with my nail file. They looked professional and clean for several days!
The not-so-distant runner up was Naturally Chic from Revlon. Same premise, very easy to use but they will take some patience to safely remove from your nails long after the NYE festivities are over. These will last several days for you and save you big bucks at the nail salon before you go out. I did trim these shorter like the ones I used from Kiss. Once I shaped them, they looked very believable. It took me about 15 minutes to get everything just right. And then last night I kept looking up at my hands every few minutes and my hubby asked, “Are you in love with me– or just your nails?”
If he only knew, that about 20 years ago, I swore on the heavens and all that was Holy of Lee Press-On-Nails that I would never ever put myself through any of that kind of torture ever again. And here I am right now, telling you that if you scoot your behind on down to the drugstore– you can pick these up and still look like you got your nails did for the big night.
Are lashes more your thing? Then you’re in luck because Revlon also has some great false lashes. They’ve got some cute styles, and Flirty happens to be my favorite. I was able to get these bad boys on with minimal issues and my middle name is Butterfingers McGee. Okay, that’s my last name. I lied.
My point is, these are really easy to use and you’ll look hot on New Years Eve with only a minimal investment out of your pocketbook. Even I can use them and that speaks volumes to how easy they are. Whether you decide to play it safe with the individual lashes, or go for the drama with Flirty or Intensifying– you’ve got great choices.
Have a great time, and be safe! Happy New Year!
