REVIEW: Avon Advance Techniques Dry Ends Serum

by Amber on February 7, 2009

in hair products

I’ve come across a new first here.  I’ve never used any of Avon’s hair products before and now that’s changed!  I’ve got a few products coming up over the next few weeks from Avon, and the Advance Techniques Dry Ends Serum is first up to bat.  I have to really give credit where it’s due to the low price of this hair serum.  On Avon’s site, the regular price is only $4.99– extremely reasonable if you ask me.  But right now it’s on sale for only $2.89!  I can’t even get most drugstore hair products for that price.

I am usually a tad leery of serums on my fine hair because most of them have the tendency to make my hair look like I never washed it to begin with or because they’re so easy to overuse.  I can think of only few more frustrating beauty woes than spending all that time to blow out your hair only to have your product sabotage your look.  I’ve come across this many times in my trials and because of that– I only have two other serums in my cabinet for frizz frighting that currently pass the test.  The products are supposed to help, not hinder!  I hope Paul Mitchell doesn’t get too upset with me that I think the Advance Techniques Dry Ends Serum performs almost as well as my current hair serum fave– Super Skinny Serum.  The horror!  And I only say almost because of the viscosity of the serum itself and of course, the scents are different.  The Advance Techniques Serum is a little bit more runny than I’m used to, but it’s okay!  Knowing this, I’m using it a little more sparingly.  I’ve used this on wet hair after I put in my other product du jour and it seems to work comparably to other serums I’ve tried that are 3 times the price.

Currently at $2.89, I recommend you get your behind on this if you’re looking for a new serum and need a price break.  If you’ve never tried a serum, then you definitely need to pick this up.  You’ve got nothing one coffee to lose.
