REVIEW: Rembrandt 2-Hour Whitening Kit

Yellow teeth aren’t cute.  I think that’s one thing that we all can agree on here.  I don’t want to use long-term whitening products at all.  We live in an instant society, and that’s one of the reasons Zoom whitening is so popular.  Who wants to deal with all that?

With the economy not being very cooperative right now, we’re all looking for less expensive ways to do everything.  I want cheap, quick results just like everyone else so I clicked my heels together and bought the Rembrandt 2-Hour Whitening Kit on sale.  Hoping to eliminate the trace evidence that I’m an avid coffee drinker, I embarked on the 2 hour whitening experience.

This method takes 4 applications in a 2 hour period– 20 minutes on and 10 minutes off for both the top and bottom trays.

While this isn’t an overly messy process, it is a time consuming one that will require you to block out an entire 2 hours of your schedule.  Imagine me trying not to talk to the hubby for an entire 2 hours, I’m sure he was quite happy about that part!  A word of caution– don’t apply too much of the gel thinking it’s going to work faster and better like I did.  It resulted in a little bit of an uncomfortable burn on the inside of my lower gums that lasted for a few days.  That part was not fun, but it was entirely my own fault.  By application #3, I did see a visibly whiter result that made me pretty excited that I was coming down the home stretch and I only had one more application to go.  After #4, I did have whiter teeth and that was the goal after all.  So yes, this system does work, but not to movie star white standards.  If I had to do it all over again, I would most definitely use less gel and not try to do it in the middle of a Saturday afternoon.  I would pick a less busy time in my life like 2 hours before I went to bed so that I could unwind and read a book while it’s working!

Did it make your teeth sensitive? I’m worried about sensitivity due to a bad tooth whitening experience a few years ago, but I really want to try it again.

Hey Julie! I didn’t notice any sensitivity, I’m usually really worried about that too. If I got any, it wasn’t noticeable because I was too busy belly-aching over my burnt lower gum!

I’m using this as I type right now. I’m on the first stage and I’ll update everyone in a little while…like 2 hours or so…. ;)

I finished up! I do have whiter teeth…at a cost. My gums got burned and when I completed all steps, I had a couple of silver fillings that throbbed until I fell asleep.
If I had used a full ampule on each tray each time, I would have had a gooey mess. What I did was split an ampule in half for both top and bottom and that worked out just fine. I now have an extra set of 4 ampules left for my next session. I will wait quite a while until I decide to do it again. My experience:
    1. Time consuming
    2. Causes extreme sensitivity
    3. Burns your gums
    4. Get whiter teeth as the final result

    Hi Susanne!

It looks like we agree on our Rembrandt verdict! I didn’t have any throbbing on my fillings, but I did have some minor gum burns. I would have purchased this one again because it really did work, but right now I’m pretty hooked on the Crest Whitestrips Advanced Seal!

Absolutely. I think I will go with a less complicated method also.
Being able to talk only at 10 minute intervals was strange.
I had to write notes to my teenage son! Also I didn’t know it would involve
“molding to fit” each tray and that took awhile.
I will stick with a simpler, less painful method like strips.
