Prom and wedding season are quickly approaching!  What are your hair plans?  It’s time to start experimenting with styles and products so that your big day isn’t marred by a crowning-glory meltdown.  Let’s take a look at some popular celeb-worthy styles and get the lowdown from Redken Session Stylist, Giovanni Giuntoli.

Romantic Renaissance Style

“Remember that loose-weaved updo that Lauren Conrad made famous this year at MTV’s Video Music Awards? Get her So-Cal chic style this prom that’s guaranteed to turn heads. To create the look, Giuntoli recommends first blow-drying Redken guts 10 volumizing spray foam (SRP $15.00) into the hair with a round brush for a voluminous base.

Then gather hair to one side behind the neck and secure in a loose ponytail. Next, take random-sized sections from the ponytail and randomly curl the ends. Sculpt the curled-ends by scrunching in a little Redken electric wax 11 shine-fused texturizer (SRP $17.00) mixed with Redken outshine 01 anti-frizz polishing milk (SRP $16.00) with your palms to relax the curls and add shine. Dress the ‘do by securing each curl around the base of the ponytail with a bobby pin, concentrating the pinning on the side of the head and overlapping pieces on top of each other. “The ponytail is the foundation to which you can be creative with the pinning of the pieces, to express your own personal style,” says Giuntoli. Finish by carefully drawing random pieces around the face for that worn-in look.”

Long, Loose Bohemian Waves

“Hey Upper East-Siders, want to get Blake Lively’s full worn-in waves and be the gossip of the night? First, prep and protect hair from heat by applying Redken fabricate 03 heat-active texturizer (SRP $14.00) on damp or dry hair and blow-dry in sections with a round brush to create volume.

Then work a little Redken rough paste 12 working material (SRP $17.00) between your palms and apply evenly to hair for that ragged texture, starting at the crown. Randomly curl sections of hair with a 1½ inch curling iron, alternating direction of the curls. After curling entire head, rub a little more rough paste 12 through the curls to break up and loosen them up– “It’ll create that finger-smudged silhouette with edges that aren’t super clean and polished, for a beautiful bohemian understatement” says Giuntoli.”

One of the reasons I like these two styles in particular from Redken, they’re easy to work into your every day looks as well.  The glamour in them isn’t so over-the-top that you would look ridiculous shopping on your day off.  You’d just look hot!  These looks easily transfer into real life.  Be the belle of the ball, or the easy-on-the-eyes gal in your neighborhood.  Visit Redken.com for product details and more hair inspiration.
