We have to wear sunscreen! It’s not like it used to be, remember when we had no choices except for that streaky white thick mess that smelled awful? No wonder we’ve strayed away from doing the right thing. With so many new formulations on the market it’s entirely possible to help protect our faces against premature aging, skin cancer, and sun damage without being miserable.
I’m such a fan of mineral sunscreens because they offer immediate and convenient protection and are so easy to apply. One of my faves is the Instant Mineral SPF 30 from PTR, but I have to say that I have a new favorite! Bare Minerals just released their SPF 30 Natural Sunscreen and it’s AMAZING! The shaker-style brush makes it so easy to distribute the powder and it’s simple to use. It flows through evenly and I don’t have to shake it every other stroke to get it to come out. It’s a physical sunscreen, so you’re less likely to break out from it and offers both UVA and UVB protection.
In 3 colors, it won’t leave a grey cast on your skin and I love that the brush is big enough to use on my body too. Oil free, chemical free, and preservative free– in a word, awesome. I use the light color on top of my makeup or alone and there are no tell-tell signs of sunscreen left behind. Reapplication throughout the day is a breeze, I can tuck this in my bag and take it to-go. For $28, this is worth it’s weight in gold I tell you!

I love the beauty stimulus package- it has everything a girl would want- I especially enjoy body wash and body lotion. The Egyptian Body wash and lotion sounds fabulous.
I just got this product and am not getting a lot of powder on the brush. A little comes out, but I’m not sure I’m getting a lot of coverage. Am I doing something wrong? Help!
Hi Froggy!
Thanks so much for commenting. The Natural Suncreen has minimal tint to you so you won’t get a lot of coverage. It has a little more color than a translucent powder, but it won’t cover like a foundation. Just twisting it open and going in a buffing motion on your face for a few seconds should do the trick! If it’s still new, give it a few good shakes and it should be fine

I was wondering if you can give me some advice, please? Since it’s a physical sunscreen, do I: 1)Serum 2) Moisturize 3) Foundation… and then put this powder on top? And would a Chemical sunscreen be put on before moisturizer. This is what I’ve heard in the past?
Hey Audrey!
I would use this specific sunscreen on top of everything since it’s in a powder form. If you were using a liquid sunscreen, I would apply it over your serum/moisturizer and under your foundation. Hope that helps!

This packaging is similar to the Mineral Veil on the Go, which was a Sephora exclusive. I love this brush, so I know I’m going to like the sunscreen as well.
What I go to get my MVOTG working (which should work with this brush too) is tap it on the back of my hand until I see a small ‘cloud’ of powder so I know it’s in there. You could also tap it on a tissue if you don’t want to use your hand.
Amber- the way you recommend to apply sunscreen is what I’ve always heard also.
Hey Sharon!
If you love Mineral Veil On The Go, you’re going to freak when you find out what else Bare Escentuals has coming!!! Not sure if I can speak about it yet

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone knew how dark the medium tone is in this sunscreen. I have naturally yellow toned skin in what I would estimate to be medium for a white person but I have bought ‘medium’ products in the past that have been too dark for my skin tone, while others are perfect.
I can’t test it out in the store because I’m from England and can only get it online, so if anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it.
If it’s of any help to anyone I use Laura Mercier’s mineral foundation in ‘Natural Beige,’ and I wouldn’t want to go any darker than that, unless of course the pale shade is like a porcelain or something.
Thanks.
Lizzie.
Hi Lizzie! Good question
This is a toughie. I can’t really tell you which one to buy for sure because I would have to see ya. But if you are on the more fair side of medium you may opt for the light because it’s a golden tone… the medium in this sunscreen is a cool tone. But I’m not sure to be 110% honest hun! While it does give a little bit of coverage (very minimal) it’s also pretty sheer so you may *fingers crossed* be able to pull it off. Hope I didn’t confuse you more!

I use the Bare Mineral products including the Mineral Veil, but have never heard about the Mineral Veil on the Go. What is it? Thanks!
Hey Petal
MV on the go is basically the same style shaker brush that’s already pre-filled with your Mineral Veil and you can twist it, cap it, and stick it in your bag
It was a Sephora exclusive I believe, I’m not sure if it’s still available. I have a feeling it will be back!

Hi Amber, you seem to be the expert here, so could ypu tell me exactly how to apply Bare Minerals natural sunscreen. I just don’t know how much I am applying and if I should rub it in or just fluff it on. Any advice welcome
Hi Liz!
I buff a good amount of it on in circular motions–but not in the amount I buff on my bareMinerals foundation. Think–apply more than a translucent powder, less than a foundation. Depending on the color you’re using, it should look pretty translucent on the skin, but it still gives it a finished and polished look on the skin due to it just being an awesome bareMinerals product (I hope that makes sense). That should be an indicator if you’ve missed an area–I can tell if I’ve missed a spot on my forehead in contrast to my cheeks or nose because the skin just doesn’t look as nice in the areas I may have missed! But honestly, I find it flows out very easily to the brush, and if you buff it over your skin a few times in small circular motions it should be sufficient. The cool thing is, you can go back and touch up since it’s so forgiving. I hope that helps!
