Review: NeuLash Active Eyelash Technology

by Amber on March 17, 2009

in product reviews,skincare

I have to admit I’ve been really skeptical of all of these new lash growth serums that are exploding on the market.  Call me weird, but I actually get enjoyment out of proving myself wrong.  The first time I saw one on the shelf at Sephora I picked it up until I realized it was $125 and I vowed I would never indulge in such a thing.  Ever.

But then I realized that just because I didn’t see an immediate need in it for myself, there are some people who could really benefit from this kind of advanced technology.  Like people who have undergone radiation therapy or who have lost their lashes for whatever the reason may be.  So after I thought of the pros and cons of these new lash serums, I decided what the heck?  I’ve probably spent over thousands of dollars on cosmetics I didn’t even use half of over my lifetime and all of the sudden– these lash formulas didn’t seem so outrageous in the grand scheme of things.  What better way to make a final decision on their efficacy than to try one myself, the oh-so-skeptical one.

I gave NeuLash a shot at proving me wrong for a month.  I took before shots and I was like, “These lashes are just okay.  I wish they were darker, longer, and had a little curl at the end.”  After one month, I took another shot and I said, “Oh my God.  I have curl!  They’re darker!”  Sold.

Every night after my tedious skincare ritual, I applied NeuLash on my upper lash line and clicked my heels together 3 times.  Okay, so maybe I didn’t click my heels together!  I didn’t experience any problems and felt reassured since it’s paraben and fragrance-free because heck– it’s going like right near my eyes.  It’s also been Ophthalmologist and Dermatologist safety tested and that was the assurance and nudge I needed.  Enough of my babbling, here’s the shot:

See how they’re all wispy at the ends in the bottom shot?  That’s new length!  I swear!  These photos have not been altered in any way other than a re-size.  That curl at the ends was not achieved with a lash curler, that’s a natural little bend in the lashes and that’s what I was hoping for.  I think my lashes look fuller, longer, have more angle in the curl, and look darker.  Keep in mind, this is just after 4 weeks.  I’m going to continue to use my tube of Neu Lash because there’s plenty left.  Probably another 4-6 weeks worth.  So I’ve proven my initial thoughts wrong, and I’ve satisfied some of my lash desires.  While NeuLash isn’t a cheap date at $150, rest assured that it’s more of a clinical product than a fluff and buff cosmetic.  I do recommend it, something I thought I would never do.  Shhh, do you hear that?  It’s the sound of my eyelashes growing!

My good friend Valerie over at Hair On The Brain is currently giving the Jan Marini Lash a shot, so I’m looking forward to her views on it soon.  Have you ever tried a lash growth serum?  How do you feel about these?

I’ve been giving Retivalash a whirl. Ordinarily, I wouldn’t spend so much money either, but I was lucky enough to pick one up at a Spa show for $49, so I decided “what the heck”! I only wish that I’d have taken a picture on Day One, but it never occured to me. Now I stare at my eyelashes daily looking for signs of improvement, but how can you tell when you’re analyzing daily? That’s like wondering if a plant has grown any more overnight. I “think” it’s helping, but I also changed mascaras at the same time to the L’Oreal Double Extend masacara (gonna read your review on that next), which does a darn good job on me. Did you notice any stinging with New Lash?

AmberNo Gravatar March 17, 2009 at 8:25 am

Hey Robyn!

I haven’t noticed any stinging at all. I’ve read that a little tingling at the lash line with these products is normal, as long as it’s not painful. I’ve been really happy with NeuLash and I was so not going for the idea at all! I’ll check out Revitalash, keep me posted with any new results! xo Amber

I have tried multiple lash products and believe me, this product did not make a difference to my lashes. I switch to Revitalash because a girlfriend of mine had been using it and I could totally notice a major difference. It has been only a few weeks and I already notice more lashes… I’m so excited to see what I look like in a couple months!!… we all have different genes though so i wish you luck!

Thanks so much Kelly! I’m sorry you didn’t have a good experience. I’m glad you found one that works for you! :) xo, Amber

Wow girls! That’s a lot of positive mentions for Revitalash! Thanks Madison! Everyone, please keep me posted on your lash growth adventures no matter what the magic potion :)

I would really like to try a product that helps me get llonger and thicker ashes. I would like to try it before I spend a lot of money. Is there anyway to get a sample. I would be willing to pay for it if it worked….

AmberNo Gravatar March 19, 2009 at 3:53 pm

Hi Brenda,

Thanks for your question! I don’t think NeuLash offers samples but I don’t work for them so I’m not sure. I do know it took about 3 weeks before I noticed anything so a sample might not be able to show you the efficacy of the product if they do offer them. Hope that helps!

I have been using some of these eyelash growth serums. I was also a skeptic of these products. My eyelashes are very sensitive. Neova eyelash serum worked great on me and no reaction. I recenlty picked up ActivLash and I love it. My eyelashes improved in 2wks already.

DO NOT USE NEU LASH!!!!! I APPLIED IT CAREFULLY BEFORE BEDTIME AND I WOKE UP WITH A BIG RED SPOT ON THE WHITE OF MY EYE. I LOOK LIKE I WAS PUNCHED IN THE EYE. LIKE A BURN MARK ON THE WHITE OF MY EYE.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING NEU LASH!!!

IT IS NOT SAFE AND I HAVE A RED EYE TO PROVE IT.
I TRIED TO GO TO THEIR WEBSITE FOR HELP AND FOUND NOTHING, NOT EVEN A PHONE NUMBER TO CALL FOR HELP.

STAY AWAY FROM NEU LASH!!!!

AmberNo Gravatar December 1, 2009 at 1:12 pm

Hi Jon,

The contact information for NeuLash is on their left sidebar, you can contact them here: http://neulash.com/contact.htm I hope you go see a physician, it’s possible you have an allergy from one of the ingredients! I know several people who have used it and experienced no problems, so I’m sorry to hear that!

I have been using NeuLash for over a month and have had good results. I use it on the top and bottom lashes and brows. My brows are darker and more filled in and my lashes are definitely longer. I just ordered some more today from ShopNBC for $65 and change.
So far, I have only had minor irritation around the eye area when I first started using it. No problems now.

ChristineNo Gravatar February 4, 2010 at 2:02 am

I used Latisse initially and found it to be irritating and expensive. I started to use Activlash which has lasted longer, and no irritations so far. My lashes are fuller especially on the side of my eyelids. Fuller all around. Two months now and i’m still on the same bottle.

Here is what i can share. Hope this helps. At first I really noticed how my bestfriend’s eyelashes enhanced naturally. I really wondered why her lashes were becoming fuller and thicker. I kept asking her what she did on her lashes and always answers me “secret”. I was asking her almost everyday and one day finally told me the she has been using revitalash eyelash conditioner. I drag her to the mall and bought one for myself. One thing I can say is, it’s amazing. I’m sticking to this brand forever.

Hey everyone!

It saddens me to say this, but I actually have to close the comments on this post because it’s getting spammed lately like there’s no tomorrow! It’s not fair to legitimate readers to come to posts like this to read about the product that was written about originally (Neulash), only to see spam for another brand’s similar product. I welcome and encourage comments and comparisons to other brands from my readers–but what I don’t welcome are comments from different “personas” coming from a single IP address making suspect claims about the brand’s competitor product. When you post several comments within a week of each other for another brand of eyelash conditioner that all come from the same IP address (some even with duplicate email addresses but different user names), on a post that is over a year old it’s a HUGE red flag. Please don’t do that to Beauty Junkies Unite readers, they didn’t come here for that and that’s not what this website is about! It’s unethical and reflects poorly for whatever brand you’re doing it for, so please don’t do it to anyone’s site at all.

I moderate all comments for this very reason. Comment spam is unfair to readers and pretty much an insult to everyone’s intelligence so I won’t provide that theatre for spammers. Sorry! If anyone legitimately has a question about the Neulash product, please feel free to email me regarding it and I’ll try to answer it to the best of my abilities. This original post is over a year old so I’ll tell you what I can remember. But please spammers–enough already about your eyelash conditioners! I’ve removed any suspect comments with duplicate IP addresses.

Amber
