Review: Olay Professional Pro-X Age Repair Lotion SPF 30

by Amber on March 31, 2009

in anti-aging,moisturizer,new products,product reviews,sunscreen

olayspfA few months ago when I saw the clinical data that Olay provided from the research and development for their Pro-X line of skincare products– I was sitting there with my mouth agape.  While I am not a medical professional, in the past I have worked in an environment that provided quantifiable skin measurement data via some pretty state-of-the-art equipment.  That data gave clients the black and white information they needed to help them make the best decisions for their skin concerns.  I’m all for empowerment and arming yourself with the knowledge to make your own choices and that’s one of the many reasons I participate on this site.  I hope you take only what you need from my ramblings and leave the rest!

When I talk about what I think of Olay’s Professional Pro-X line– I have to say: this is not your Grandma’s Oil of Olay!  It’s Olay supercharged, times 10.  While yes, for being part of the Olay family of products, and being available in your local drugstore– the price tags are more than what you may be ready for.  But these aren’t classic Olay products repackaged in flashy red and white bottles just hoping that you’ll pay more for them and not notice they are the same.  Because they are not the same!

I’m already a fan of the Eye Restoration Complex, so I took Age Repair Lotion with SPF 30 for a test drive too.  Being as fanatical about sunscreen as I already am, it wasn’t hard to implement this into my existing morning routine.  While I like the concept and the product itself, I found it to make my skin-type a little more shiny than usual.  To be completely honest, I’m using so many anti-aging products that I can’t credit the Age Repair Lotion with being the one product that is preventing my skin from future signs of aging.  But, Olay has the clinical data that says that it can.  I am going to go out on a ledge here and take a company for their word.  I’ve worked with some of the same equipment they’ve used in their clinical trials before and I completely trust the measurements.  Can you use a less expensive anti-aging lotion with an SPF 30 on a daily basis?  Absolutely!  But can you trust it?  Just a little food for thought!  Even if these products are priced a little higher than what you may be used to, I think we’re actually getting a deal on clinical skincare with Olay Pro-X.  That’s how I see it.
