Newest celeb scents reviewed: Halle by Halle Berry & Celine Dion Chic

by Amber on May 11, 2009

in celebrity beauty,fragrance,new products,product reviews

It’s no secret that the celeb is what sells the scent.  I love Halle Berry, but I’m not such a fan of Avril Lavigne.  If I were at a fragrance counter and a sales associate put the two fragrances in front of me, I would probably decline to even test the Avril scent, and have no problem sniffing Halle’s.  It’s pure marketing genius and it’s obviously working!  Celeb scents are on the rise, and I’ve been test driving a few of the newest.  Halle by Halle Berry, and Celine Dion Chic.  Did they pass the test?

Halle By Halle Berry is a sensual woody oriental that reflects the strength of a woman, yet embraces femininity at the same time.  Halle leaves behind a warm aura that says “I am a natural beauty.”

Creating a fragrance is something that I’ve wanted to do for a very long time.  Growing up, creating scents was something that I really enjoyed. Believe it or not, I used to take my mother’s perfumes and mix them together to come up with something unique and different. I loved the idea of wearing a scent that no one else had. I’m so happy to be partnering with Coty on my very first fragrance. — Halle Berry

Top: Sparkle of Joyful Freshness– Sicilian bergamot, fig leaves, pear blossom
Mid: Bloom of Delicacy– Freesia petals, hibiscus flower, ultra mimosa
Dry: Quintessence of Natural Sensuality– Cashmere musk, sensual amber, olibanum absolute, driftwood, creamy sandalwood

While Halle by Halle Berry was too warm of a fragrance for me personally, I found it to be very sexy and unique.  I think this will do well as the high-end quality is there with what I think is a very low price point.  The suggested retail for a 1.7 oz Eau de Parfum is $35 with the body care items much lower.  Give this one a sniff if creamy fragrances and woody orientals are for you!

Celine Dion’s Chic was not what I was expecting at all.  I was so surprised at how youthful and fresh Chic is!  It’s totally my style and the notes blend together perfectly.

Top: Aquatic greens, watermelon
Medium: Peony, drenched gardenia, lotus flower, green violet
Dry: Blond woods, sandalwood, amber, musk

My physical chemistry doesn’t do musks very well, but I think the blend of the cool notes like watermelon and peony pulled it off for me!  Celine Dion Chic is very affordable as well, perfect for the gal that wants the luxury but doesn’t necessarily want to plunk down her weekly grocery money to get it.  The 1.7 oz Eau De Toilette retails for $32 and smaller sizes are available as well.  When it comes to fragrances, keep in mind it’s always better to size up because you’re paying less per ounce.

Halle and Celine get my thumbs up!  Well done ladies, or shall I say– divas.
