NutriSystem Challenge Update: Week 5

by Amber on June 10, 2009

in newsworthy,product reviews

This has been the longest I’ve ever stuck with something that changed my eating habits– but this past week I hit some bumps in the road!  I want to be completely honest with everyone.  Everyone has excuses I know, but honestly this was the hardest week to complete for me because I had the worst ear infection.  I’ve been on 2 antibiotics for a week and they’ve made me split my time between being insanely hungry and not being attracted to food at all.  Because of that my blood sugar wasn’t doing it’s normal thing and there were 2 times I faltered.  I’m trying to put that in the past because if I dwell on it could snowball into self-sabotage.  I just wanted to share the importance of eating at regular intervals and show how much it affects your food choices!  I’ve dusted myself off and resumed right back where I was because I’m doing SO well that I really feel dedicated to this and I hope that by sharing I can inspire someone else!

I decided to skip the scale this week, just in case my mishaps affected me only because I didn’t want to get discouraged.  I had a doctor tell me to throw out my scale altogether and my best friend also says she doesn’t use a scale either– it makes sense to me.  Maybe after I reach a sensible weight I could do that… who knows?  I think we get completely addicted to that number and sometimes we get these thoughts like “It doesn’t matter if I indulge in this because it won’t hurt!” and for the most part those enjoyable indulgences DON’T hurt!  It’s important to have them in life in general, and when you’re trying to teach yourself the “in moderation” part it can.  I had a really hard time passing up a beautiful dessert buffet last night at a beauty event and I said to someone out loud, “WHY AM I EVEN LOOKING AT THIS?” It was silly at the time but I’m proud that I had the self-discipline to just walk away.  The mini crème brûlée and pretty chocolates were tempting, so I came right home and enjoyed my Nutri-System dessert– a caramel chocolate bar and it completely satisfied my sweet tooth.  Thank goodness!  Cheers to week 6!

P.S. Jackie P. won the NutriSystem giveaway last week, I was so happy to hear from everyone who shared with me!  I hope someday to be able to do something like that for you all again soon.  Thanks for your participation!
