Best of Summer: Fragrances

by Amber on June 17, 2009

in fragrance,new products,product reviews

Okay lovelies, I hate to break it to you but I think it’s time we change over from the heavy fragrances we’ve been wearing since the dark days of Winter and go for a few that are much lighter, brighter and fresher!  If you haven’t gone through your fragrance wardrobe lately and updated it– it’s okay because I’ve done some sniffing around.  And don’t you fret my pretty!  At least one of these, if not several will tickle your Summer scent fancy!

Mustela Musti Eau De Soin — This one stole my heart at the first whiff!  It’s lighter than air, alcohol-free, hypo-allergenic and also makes a great linen spray.  It’s part fruity, part fresh & flowery and satisfies my addiction of smelling like a baby wearing a freshly laundered onesie. (I know, there’s something wrong with me) It’s soft– but not powdery and I almost think it’s impossible to overdo it since it’s so light.  It’s a “feel good” fragrance and people will be telling you that you smell delicious!  Oh, and the price is just $29 for 3.3 ounces.  As if the fragrance itself didn’t give me reason enough to smile!

L’EAU PAR KENZO eau indigo — If you like your fragrances a little on the warm side, you should be attracted to eau indigo!  The zesty beginning notes like mandarin and bergamot keep it fresh and the middle notes are clean touches of orange blossom, sambac jasmine and a light ylang-ylang to delicately round it out.  That will take you home to the tonka bean and amber bottom notes that are nice and soft and not overpowering or too spicy.  This is a great blend of fresh and spicy for Summer and would make an excellent sexy nighttime fragrance!

liiv botanicals Vitality eau de toilette — Imagine sleeping in on a beautiful Saturday morning.  You open the door to pick up the paper and smell that the grass has been freshly cut and your beautiful flowers are blooming.  The day is just calling out for you to seize it and off you go with your BFF to your favorite outdoor flea market with a cute maxi-dress on and sandals– you feel amazing!  And then your alarm goes off and you realize it’s Monday and you don’t even have time to brush your teeth!  That’s okay, you’ve got time to spray this and at least continue your fantasy in a daydream because liiv will take you there!  Vitality is preservative-free and made with 100% natural fragrances with an infusion of grapefruit, melon, rose, jasmine, white cedar and vetiver.  It truly sets me free!

The Body Shop White Musk White Hot SummerThe original White Musk has been a best seller for decades!  White Hot Summer is a fresh take on the classic with top notes of pink pepper, bergamot and violet leaf with a base of musk and creamy vanilla.  Sounds perfect at only $17.50.  Gorgeous bottle too!

CLEAN Summer Eau Fraiche — Any fragrance that has the word “clean” in the name has a 99% chance of winding up on my vanity.  CLEAN Summer has everything I love about the original CLEAN, with yummy notes of Italian limoncello, rose ice and lily of the valley.  Doesn’t it sound perfect?  It’s simple and crisp and contains less alcohol than an eau de parfum or eau de toilette.
