Review: Boscia Luminizing Black Mask

I have wanted to sit down and write a review for this product for several weeks now, and it's been killing me that I haven't physically been able to.  My arm is feeling a little better today so I figured I better jump on it!  When I first read about the new Boscia Luminizing Black ...

Must Have: Urban Decay “Get Baked” Eyeshadow Palette

by Amber on June 29, 2009

in eyeliner,eyeshadow,new products,primers,product reviews

Not to be outdone by the other summery palettes out there, Urban Decay gifted us with Get Baked.  This one just marched itself up to the front of the line like it’s always belonged there!  If you’ve never tried the Eyeshadow Primer Potion before, you don’t know what you’re missing first of all.  Their eyeshadow pigments straight-up rock, and the eye pencils… forget it.  They are THE BEST long-wearing pencils I’ve ever worn.

Let’s take a little look, shall we?

Don’t lie, you know you already want it!  So we’ve established it’s super hot, but what exactly does it all come with?

3 of the best neutral eyeshadows around: Twice Baked, Half Baked, Baked
1 electric teal shadow: Flipside
24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil: Bourbon (rich deep brown)
1 travel size of the newest Eyeshadow Primer Potion: Sin (shimmery champagne)

These are all must-haves in my humble opinion.  Not only are the combos in this collection super versatile, but the shadows are incredible in their texture and color saturation and just a breeze to build and blend.  They look killer either with or without Sin Primer Potion, and Sin also looks stellar as a champagne cream shadow on it’s own.  Just from swatching on my hand a few hours ago, it’s still hanging on for dear life.  I will have to take a little bit of a cleansing oil to remove it I’m sure!  The 24/7 Glide-On pencils have never left me hanging, don’t tug, snag, or skip and wear pretty darn long!  A little FYI on this too– this is the first time that Urban Decay has offered Sin Primer Potion and a 24/7 eye pencil as part of a palette too.

Here’s what might seal the deal– swatches!  Notice that I swatched each shade with and without Sin as the primer:

Do you notice very slight color variations?  They look great either way and I can’t say that about a lot of eyeshadows out there.  This one has my absolute blessing!  A Flipside/Baked combo is what I’m dying to try tomorrow… if I only had more than 2 eyes, oh the things I would do! *sigh*

In case you were curious about Sin on it’s own, here ya go– and a peek at the Bourbon pencil too.  Enjoy!

Are you going to take the plunge at $28?  It’s a limited edition so don’t think about it for too long.

Just when I thought I had my luxury purchase of the month all figured out (Benefit’s new Velvet eyeshadows) you go and show us THIS! I’m sorry but this palette trumps all. It’s just too gorgeous to pass up (and you get so much for the price!). Thank you for the fantastic review. :)

Hey R,

It is COMPLETELY irresistable, isn’t it? I about lost my mind when I saw it– wait until you feel the shadows, you’ll be in heaven! I didn’t think there was any way to make Eyeshadow Primer Potion better now that they’ve fixed the wand issue, but Sin is killer.
