Almost a month ago, I told everyone that I was itching to try the two Daniel Sandler mascaras I saw on QVC during a Saturday Night Beauty segment just a few days prior. I think it’s been well-established in the past year just how much of a mascara-fiend I am, so we won’t get too into that right now. But I did have a chance to experience them, so here we go!

Okay, so why are there 2 and what do they do?
Baby Jet Mascara has an itty bitty baby brush and makes it easy to navigate your way through applying consistent coats on your lower lashes and also makes it super simple to reach both the inner and outer corners on your top lashes. Baby Jet focuses more on the definition aspect of application.
Jumbo Jet Mascara has a brush that I find similar to Benefit’s Bad Gal mascara, maybe just a little more dense. The purpose of Jumbo Jet is to fatten up and thicken the lashes. Was this the case? Let’s take a look at my application method:
1. I applied Baby Jet to my lower lashes and also defined the inner & outer corners of my top lashes.
2. I applied Jumbo Jet to my top lashes, 3 coats. I decided to stop there for a few reasons.
While Baby Jet did a great job defining the bottom lashes without clumping, flaking, or smudging– Jumbo Jet really didn’t do as much in the thickening department as I had hoped. Had it been able to, I think I would have been much more impressed. Both the Baby & Jumbo Jet formulas stay pretty wet, longer than most mascaras. I personally think it’s not giving the Jumbo Jet brush much luck at grabbing and depositing more on the top lashes– resulting in the lack of ability to build thickness between coats. I tried applying it a few different ways, letting it dry between coats, not letting it dry between coats, applying several coats, and I even applied Baby Jet as a primer just to see what would happen. Jumbo Jet in my opinion, doesn’t live up to it’s name unfortunately.
However, what I did wind up with were elongated glossy black lashes that didn’t flake or smudge throughout the day and that wasn’t exactly horrible! I think Baby Jet is great for it’s designated purpose, but Jumbo Jet just isn’t for me personally. It wasn’t a total loss because I think my lashes look separated, clean and natural– it’s just not what I was expecting. Sorry!

Wow, that is a dramatic change for your lower lashes! I like the look of the elongated the top lashes, but definitely not much of thickening. Which is weird because looking at the wand brush, I thought it would fatten up the lashes like no other! I think I want to try out the Baby Jet, I’ve never really seen anything that designated for lower lashes. I’m not so sure about the Jumbo Jet though. Thanks for this helpful review!
Heya Sarah,
I was really surprised about Jumbo Jet too. All of the experiences I’ve had with brushes even remotely similar to it have given much more of a dramatic result. I know I’m not a chemist *hee hee* but I honestly think the formula is so clean that it’s almost impossible to grip to itself and layer on some density to the lashes! Clean formulas are AWESOME, don’t get me wrong! But if it’s so slick and wet and it can’t get any traction, I don’t see how it can deliver a maximum punch. It wasn’t a total loss like you said, and I’ll go for a clean lash look almost anytime… but when you’re expecting va-va-voom and it’s not there, bummer!
