As much as I love applying my own makeup, conducting product performance reviews, and testing the products– I am not a makeup artist. While I touched on it briefly in my training, it just wasn’t my strongest area and I’m afraid sometimes it shows! I appreciate the advice I receive from artists when I get to sit down in their chairs and pick their brains, I try to soak in as much as possible so I can pass it on! I love it even more when a brand makes it super easy for us to put together a look without much thought through a series of baby-steps. I wasn’t born with the Midas touch of flawless eyeshadow application and the knowledge of which colors create the best looks for each eye color. I envy all of those with natural talent out there– I see it online everyday in posts and on forums– I am impressed by the creativity I see out there! For the rest of us who may need a little assistance, CoverGirl sure is trying to help out with their expansion of the Exact Eyelights collection which hits stores this month.
I’m happy to share the experience with you that I recently had with the Exact Eyelights Eye Brightening Eyeshadow Palette and the Exact Eyelights Eye Brightening Eyeliner. It was SO easy.
Depending on your eye color, there are 4 coordinating eyeshadow palettes available and 4 coordinating shades of brightening eyeliner. If you were curious, these shades totally work back to the Exact Eyelights Mascaras that were released several months ago that are also eye color specific. Shades available:
Brightening Eyeshadow Palette (approx. $7.49):
• Majestic Hazels
• Vibrant Browns
• Vivid Greens
• Radiant Blues
Brightening Eyeliner (approx. $6.99):
• Majestic Jade (for hazel eyes)
• Vibrant Pearl (for brown eyes)
• Vivid Ruby (for green eyes)
• Radiant Sapphire (for blue eyes)

I can usually get away with either hazel or brown eye enhancers since they teeter right on the border and change so easily when influenced by the shades. I chose to use the Vibrant Browns Brightening Eyeshadow Palette with the Vibrant Pearl Brightening Eyeliner for brown eyes. On the back of the box, you have step-by-step directions on the placement of all 4 shades and I really appreciate that since sometimes I get a little confused by what goes where. I’ll buy a bunch of pretty shadows with good intentions only to become intimidated by using all of them to create a pulled-together look. The 4 steps were easy to follow, in hindsight I wish I would have used a primer! Don’t get me wrong, the quality for the price (approx. only $7.49!) is incredible– the pigments in the shadows are better than a few I have purchased from higher end brands where the singles were more than the price of the CoverGirl palette. For daytime, I would wear it without the liner, and for night I would wear the liner to amp it up and look more intense. It’s a nice soft smoky look for day that’s not over-the-top, and at night I would darken up the crease color and intensify the smoky effect. I have to be careful with crease colors though because of the shape of my eyes, I usually won’t go too heavy on them! I would also be able to pair the copper color on the lid with the light brow bone color for a day look too– so in my opinion it’s a super versatile buy! The included brush is an additional nice treat for the price.

Will you be picking any of these up to enhance your eye color?

Pretty! I’ve seen these at the store but wasn’t sure how the quality would be. I might have to pick one up now!
I cannot wait to try these!!! It is always fun to brighten my green eyes… and I already love the mascara for green eyes!! Thanks for the review!
I have brown eyes, and think these colors will look great on my lids. Btw, Covergirl has one of the best quality eyeshadows out there, so I won’t hesitate buying.
Hey Kirsten!
I agree! I usually don’t purchase eyeshadows at mass-market retailers because the quality just isn’t there for many brands, but I’ve been very impressed with the CoverGirl shadows I’ve tried so far. You cannot beat them for the price in my opinion

OMG, I *just* picked up the palette for hazel eyes over the weekend! Too funny! I’ll be reviewing it shortly.
I was quite surprised by that brush, which was a lot better than my expectations. Love your review and that palette looks gorgeous on you!
Okay R, is it safe to say that if you don’t care for the hazels they’ll be in my mailbox? It’s not likely… considering I thought this little palette was awesome. Oh well *sigh*, one could only hope!

I have really bright aqua green eyes and I can’t wait to but the collection and try it out!!
The only thing I’m concerned about is the red eyeline for green eyes.
Red???
I hope I dont look like I have pink eye or like I have a bruised eye.
I am 31 yrs old and trying to get more into eye makeup.Iususally do a gloss and mascara. I bought the palette for brown eyes. I was looking for an easy natural day look to do with instrucations on how to apply. This met my expectations. I love the brush! It’s easy to apply shadow and good coverage as well. I use it to apply other shadows Iown as well.Bought it at Walgreens during a buy one get one free sale of covergirl products.
The one for hazel eyes is a piece of crap dont buy it, its matte..and it does not pigment at all when you are about to blend it with the brush it goes away.
