It’s a given that Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion is the best eyeshadow primer, ever. I have a few others that perform well and that I like and use, but when we are talking about L-O-V-E, it has to be Urban Decay. It’s like there’s magic in that purple bottle or something else unexplainable. For Fall, Urban Decay has totally outdone themselves with over 30 new products. Yes… you read that right. Not just a few new colors or one new core product, but we are talking massive additions to the line. Let’s take a peek at a few of the new products that I’ve evaluated and see how they did!

Yes, those are foundation & lipstick primers dolls! Potions galore! I remember not too long ago, I was on Twitter when Urban Decay announced the new line was up on their website and my fingers could not get me there fast enough. If anyone would have seen me they would have noticed a twinkle in my eye and a spring in my step after the pages loaded. The Complexion Primer Potion has two formulas to choose from– Pore Perfecting or Brightening so we’ve got choices! Hmm. For a girl that needs all the pore perfecting a tube of product can offer, I could not believe how much I liked the Brightening Complexion Primer Potion. Drier skins should take an immediate liking to this, it’s lightweight, hydrating, and has those fancy hyaluronic acid spheres that help the skin stay satisfied. I was afraid it would be shimmery or even glittery like a few other brightening primers I’ve tried, but not so. It provided just the right amount of “dew” to make my foundation look fresh for hours and my face happy without contributing to excess oil. This doesn’t have the typical primer “feel” to it, it’s almost like gel-lotion consistency and absorbs right in. The Pore Perfecting Complexion Primer Potion delivered a TKO to my enlarged pores and breakthrough shine. I wore it with several foundations, a mineral-based powder foundation, a compact powder, and a liquid– it worked fab each time! With the Pore Perfecting primer, start out with a VERY small amount. It’s consistency might throw you off at first, so don’t go to town with it immediately. It’s a little more dense than most primers and if you apply too much it will look white until it’s blended down. A pea-sized dollop took care of my cheeks, nose, and chin and just a tad more for my forehead. If have enlarged pores, your skin gets oily under your makeup, or if your foundation acts more like it’s on a Slip n’ Slide instead of your face– check this one out. I think these are up & comers in the foundation primer world. Now… on to the lips!
Most lipstick primers that I’ve tried have either not worked, or they’ve worked and left my lips so parched and my lipstick so crepey it was almost pointless. I’ve got to say, this Lip Primer Potion is pretty dang awesome. It glides on like a lip balm, has an SPF 15, and feels like velvet on my lips. I could not believe the difference this primer made– look at this swatch of the new lipstick shade “Naked” with and without primer and let me know which one you’d prefer your lipstick look like on your lips:

It’s 100% undeniable that the lipstick applied smoother, the pigment is more true, and the application is even with Lip Primer Potion. The only difference in those swatches is the Lip Primer Potion, I promise. It did not dry my lips out, make them flaky, or cause those lovely little gummy-lip corners, but made my lipstick wear longer than the usual. This one is without a doubt one of my new best friends and works just as well under lip gloss. So– Urban Decay is 3 for 3, they have proven to me that they know their primers!
Curious about that new lipstick shade? Here’s “Naked” from the Fall collection. How many girls do you know that whip out their lipstick and there’s a sword on it? I say, not enough. This one is a keeper too!

Awesome post! I have been wondering about the Pore Perfecting Primer and now I think I’m going to run, run, run to Sephora and get one!
Hiya Maria! If you pick it up or test it out in the store, be sure to let us know what you think too! I’m always curious to know what everyone thinks

Awesome! Just curious, did you have any feathering problems with the lip primer? It says it prevents feathering, but I’m skeptical… However, if it does indeed work, I’ma hafta buy it like yesterday.
Hiya Femputer!
I gotta be honest, I usually don’t have a real “feathering” problem unless I am wearing a very dark & vampy shade and I haven’t tried that combo yet with the Lip Primer Potion, but I will! I’m hanging on to the last days of light colors since so many Fall colors are crossing my desk right now and it’s almost time to dig in and get real busy! I will say that in my opinion, Lip Primer Potion smokes the competition if you don’t want your lipstick practically glued and matted to your lips so that it leaves behind flakes of the color imbedded in them! I hope that makes sense, so many lip primers focus on JUST long-wear and they forget that we don’t want our kissers to be looking like the California Raisins when we wipe our lipstick off! It almost puts a little cushion in between the lipstick/gloss and your lip and holds the lipcolor there, so in a perfect world– I would it say it’s better suited to prevent feathering in that sense as it won’t have an additional opportunity to sink further into your lips that way. Lip Primer Potion isn’t like those old-school lip primers where all they do is make your lips so cakey your lipstick won’t slide off– it’s a much more “well-rounded” primer, if you will! Let me know if you try it!

You lucky girl with no feathering problems! Man, when I wear lipstick it feathers like crazy, which caused me to completely stop wearing it for a few years. I’m currently using a clear lipliner, and it seems to *kind of* work, but I still think I’ll give UD’s primer a try. Thanks for your honest comments!
No problem Femputer! For clear lipliner, I think Too Faced has a good one if you haven’t tried it yet! When I wear reds, sometimes I’ll wear Cargo’s Reversable Lipliner but it has a flesh-tone to it. Not sure if that will work for you or not… but just wanted to share
