Currently Loving: Maybelline Eye Studio Color Plush Silk Eyeshadow Quads

I had an epiphany yesterday: I’m officially a responsible adult.  Let me explain–I woke up at an insanely early hour just so that I could make a mad dash to Target and the mall to stock up on Christmas supplies for next year.  In prior years, I would have balked at such a notion!  While I was at Target, I walked right past a brand spanking new Maybelline display that had obviously just been put out for the day after Christmas shoppers because it was still intact.  It also could have been that it was too early for normal people to be out of bed!

The brand new Maybelline Eye Studio collection includes 12 palettes of Color Plush Silk Eyeshadow Quads along with Color Pearls Marbleized Eyeshadows in 10 shades, 4 Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliners, and 5 XXL Pro Mascara formulations.  I’ll be reviewing other products from the new January 2010 releases, but I wanted to focus on the eyeshadow quads because I am LOVING them!

Let’s take a peek at Give Me Gold and Green With Envy:

The pops of color in the quads are a welcome treat!  This formula has great shimmer, nice color payoff, zero chalkiness, and blends very easily.  I also tried out the XXL Pro Volume Mascara in these photos and as you can tell, it definitely has volume-building capabilities.  If you’ve read any of my other mascara reviews, you can tell I’ve got wimpy lashes in all of my before photos!  I haven’t ever really worn many Maybelline products in the past, but now that I’ve had a little taste, you can count on seeing more soon!  You should be able to find Maybelline Eye Studio in your local drugstores next month if they haven’t already rushed to put the product out.

An editorial sample was provided by the company and evaluated to determine my opinion of the product in this post.  Please see the Disclosures page for further information regarding my policies for using editorial samples.

OMG, honey, those colors look ah-MAZE-ing on you (but what colors *don’t*, really?). With all the luck I’ve been having lately with spotting new drugstore products, these Eye Studio quads are driving me nuts because I just simply cannot find them ANYWHERE. Waaaah! Your post only makes me want to get my hot little hands on them even more, I tell you! And is it just me or does the packaging remind you of something you’d see at the Estee Lauder counter? It looks so high end. I love. Awesome review! xo

PS: Will you be reviewing the new Stiletto Voluptuous mascara? I was told that the crazy (in a good way) brush is a dupe of a Lancome mascara so I would LOVE to see your thoughts. :)

Hello my dear Recessionista!

Thank you :) I will review Stiletto Voluptuous soon… just for you! LOL! Those quads and duos should pop up soon, 2 Targets in my area have them up already which means they won’t make it to their own release in January because they’ll probably be gone!

Thanks!! I just got sapphire siren and green with envy^^ I love them too but I find that when I try to blend too much it gets all brown. the dark blue in Sapphire for example lose it’s shimmer and pigmentation when I try to drag it across my lid with the applicator. I find that tapping on the colors with my finger works better. any tips on application?

Hey Ang!

Yeah, that isn’t so awesome. I would try using eyeshadow brushes if you have any and “pat” your color on the lid. Also, primer with any eye shadow makes a huge difference in color payoff. I highly recommend Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion and LORAC Behind the Scenes Eye Primer. With some shadows, I’ve been known to use my ring finger too! So that’s totally okay, I just usually don’t even try applicators that come with shadows because they are more work than necessary!
