Hi lovelies! I haven’t been feeling super great lately, as you know I had bronchitis the last week of the year and I’ve got some residual sickies (more like: ugly hacking cough) hanging around and I’ve just been feeling kinda gross overall. The good news is I’m feeling much better, but I feel like I’ve had my butt kicked hardcore! Thank you for hanging in there with me and being so patient for posts!
Last night I had the extreme pleasure of attending the 2010 People’s Choice Awards here in Los Angeles. It was my first time at an awards show, it was so fun! Queen Latifah hosted and she looked AMAZING as always. If you’ve been around here long enough, you already know that I’m a big fan! Of all her wardrobe changes during the show, I have to say I thought she was most captivating in her white “Grecian goddess” dress as I like to call it:
Makeup artist, D’Andre Michael describes Queen’s look of the night:
For Queen Latifah’s PCA look I decided to go with a royal/navy blue smoky eye, nude lips, and bronzed skin. Queen’s wardrobe changes were my inspiration for her look. Since she had 3 changes I wanted to create a look that would suit all of her choices.
Want to know exactly what was used? Well here ya go! COVERGIRL Queen Collection Natural Hue Compact Foundation in “Golden Honey” set with COVERGIRL Queen Collection Natural Hue Minerals Pressed Powder in “Brown Bronze 1″ laid the foundation for her flawless face. Then, MAC Cosmetics Eyeshadow in “Brown Down” with Lancome Eyeshadow in “Garment Intense” made her eyes dazzle along with COVERGIRL Outlast Eyeliner in “Onyx”. COVERGIRL LashBlast Volume Waterproof Mascara in “Very Black” was applied for good measure! MAC Cosmetics Lipstick in “Velvet Teddy” graced Queen’s lips with Kevyn Aucoin’s Lip Pencil in “Deep”, and then topped off with COVERGIRL Lipslicks Lipgloss in “Cutie”. The finishing touch was COVERGIRL Queen Collection Natural Hue Bronzer in “Brown Bronze” for her fresh glow along with a hint of MAC Cosmetics Blush in “Sweet as Cocoa”. I’d say that was a winning combo!
I have to be honest and put this out there in the universe that I have fought tooth & nail to avoid falling in love with Taylor Swift! I have kicked and screamed the whole way, and last night I finally gave in. She was not just stunning in person, but she was so happy to have her fans approach her for photos and autographs during the commercial breaks in the show, that I could see the sheer giddiness in her face–and that made me instantly turn into a pile of goo and embrace my inner 13 year-old like it was 1989. She’s such an old soul for a young girl and so, so talented. And did I fail to mention, drop dead GORGEOUS? I see a major cosmetics deal in her future, and I’m not just talking about a fragrance. I see her being the next face of… SOMEONE PLEASE SCOOP HER UP AND SIGN HER ALREADY!
I thought Mary J. Blige absolutely positively rocked, her voice is already incredibly powerful, but hearing her live gave me goosebumps! I love her elegant and sophisticated meets edgy vibe. That look only comes with true life experience, I don’t think you can hire a stylist to help you attain it just for the red carpet. MJ, you are a class act!
Trust me, I’m not downplaying the fact that Johnny Depp took home the largest award of the night and that he only gets hotter as the years go by, but the night TRULY belonged to the ladies. We wouldn’t have it any other way, would we?

Queen Latifah! It’s been awhile! Ha ha. I like that you fought against liking Taylor Swift. I’m not a big fan of her music but I do like that she is a positive image to young girls! Better than most other tween celebs out there.
Hi ndoodles! I know, I feel really old–but I remember Queen from WAAAAAAY back when and I am genuinely happy for women who bust their butts and pay their dues to come out on top. I really think Taylor Swift has a long career ahead of her, these young girls were mesmerized by her and if I had a daughter, I’d rather her look up to Taylor than some of these other girls in Hollywood right now that are on the fast track to ruining their lives! They need to take a lesson in grace from Taylor in my opinion!
