Have you ever heard of the Children’s Safe Drinking Water program? If not, it’s okay–because I hadn’t either until I attended a media event last week where it was announced that CoverGirl would be supporting the initiative. I feel kind of silly to be honest, clean drinking water is such a given to most of the world that I haven’t given much thought about the possibility of ever being without it!
Every day more than 4,000 children in developing countries die, simply because they don’t have clean drinking water.
Unacceptable, right? Addressing this global issue, CoverGirl made a generous one-time $500,000 donation to the CSDW which will provide 50 million liters of safe drinking water to children around the world. Using low-cost PUR packet technology, heavily-contaminated drinking water is purified to meet safe drinking water standards for just pennies a day. For a mere 10 cents, a single PUR packet yields 10 liters of clean drinking water.

I was thrilled to be back in my home country to help Cover Girl deliver clean drinking water, I know firsthand that a shortage of safe drinking water can be a matter of life or death.
