Part of her “New Year, New You” collection for spring 2010, Bobbi Brown is relaunching her famous Tinted Eye Brightener. When I say famous, I mean that I’ve heard women ooh & ahh over the original version that came in a pot–but was eventually discontinued like most good things in Beauty Junkie-land. Sadly, I never had the chance (or the good sense) to try it back then, so I personally won’t be able to offer up a side-by-side comparison. If anyone out there has anything to share from their experiences with the original, please do tell! I’m just going to count my lucky stars and be grateful that I have the chance to test it out in it’s new portable pen version now, better late than never!
And here we go!

The pen is actually smaller than it looks and doesn’t hold a whole lot of product, the tube yields .05 fl. oz. of Tinted Eye Brightener. I’m not disappointed by that fact since I was never privy to the prior version, but I’m hearing some minor grumbles about there not being enough in the pen for the price. Regardless, I LOVE this pen idea! It’s quick, clean, and offers a pretty discreet touch-up opportunity if you need it. Tinted Eye Brightener is available in eight shades, and as usual I’m the lightest of the bunch–Light Bisque, a pretty pale peach tone. As far as coverage goes, it doesn’t offer up a whole lot. If you’re a person who normally goes to town with a full-coverage concealer under the eyes, this won’t do the trick for you on it’s own. It acts as more of a light deflector in my opinion to bring light to shadows under the eye, and I think it does that very well. Unfortunately, my poor flash-photography skills here won’t do it’s performance enough justice:

I wish I could provide better photographic evidence that this really performs for me! Due to the texture, this has instantly become my favorite Bobbi Brown product. Many under eye products actually make the skin look drier than when you started, but I think this actually gives more moisture because it’s almost like a cream. I apply a little under my eyes, the inner and outer corner, and just a tad on my brow bone, and instantly the overall picture is better than what I started with. I didn’t have any problems with it migrating or disturbing the foundation under my eyes, it just sat right on top and blended in pretty seamlessly. If you like under eye brightening products but don’t love the sparkle that some of them have, or if you think they actually make your eyes look worse–check this one out.

I love this eye brightener, Amber. We can always trust Bobbi Brown to give us something that works!
Hi CS
I’m so glad you love this one too! I’ve rarely been disappointed with a Bobbi Brown product myself, but I have to say this is the best one I’ve personally tried so far!

Amber
I really don´t like this new applicator! The old Eye Brightener in the pot was MUCH BETTER! (The new stick is okay for travelling…or if you dont have much time).
This new stick has only 1.5 gramm. The old pot had 7g and the price is the same!! I am really disappointed! So please: write an e-mail to Bobbi Brown! They should bring back the old pot.
