I’m starting this off with a little pop of pretty already, there’s no way I can ignore a baked eyeshadow trio so fine! I love LORAC eyeshadows for their saturated, silky smooth pigments but wow–this new Starry-Eyed Baked Eyeshadow Trio in “Rockstar” is a treat and a nice break away from singles. As someone who stays on the more neutral side of the color spectrum on an ordinary day, doesn’t this almost make you want to find somewhere to go so you can rock a teal, grey, and pearl eye? For me, it totally does!
The Starry-Eyed trios are existing products in the LORAC line, but three new color combinations have been added to the mix–Rockstar (pictured), Star Struck (champagne, plum, purple), and Star Studded (ivory, peach, olive). I know it wouldn’t be right to tease you without showing or telling you why I think these are pretty amazing…
Now I think we’re getting somewhere! The pigmentation in these shades are excellent on their own dry, or when used wet–but they really come alive with the use of the new LORAC Behind The Scenes Eye Primer that I’ll talk a little bit more about in a minute. We’re going to see a lot of teal and variations of blues and greens this spring and this is perfect in on my eyes! These are all super-smooth to the touch and you can see they’re obviously not chalky or powdery. I did have a little shadow fallout when working with the teal shade, and I think it had more to do with the way I was applying it than anything else. Other than that, even working with the deep grey shade, I didn’t have any problems and typically those are the ones I struggle with most. If you look closely, you can pick up just a little bit of what seems to be an iridescent micro glitter, but nothing crazy–it’s very finely milled. They’re incredibly easy to blend too. Layering the teal over a base of the dark grey gives a gorgeous duo-chrome effect, loves it!
(taken with flash indoors, otherwise it looks more of a true teal)
So what is this eye primer that I speak of? Behind The Scenes Eye Primer is similar and I mean similar (don’t shoot me!) to the eye primer some of us live and die for. In terms of texture, this lightweight sheer ivory/beige formula blends out nicely into a smooth translucent surface without feeling sticky or gummy and doesn’t budge. It’s oil-free (and paraben-free too if you’re watching out for that), and really helps colors stay true without creasing. I LOVE this stuff immensely, I can’t think of a single thing I do not like about it. And for the price? You’re getting almost half an ounce in what resembles a squeezable lip gloss tube, so you can squeeze to your heart’s content and get every last drop.
I hope these captured your interest too! What is your absolute favorite eyeshadow of ALL time?

great post! this trio is SO pretty! i am loving greens right now…just might have to get this one for myself.
Right now my favorites are all from MAC: Gleam, a super-frosty almost-white that I use as a base; Tempting a frosted golden brown, and Smut, a matte almost-black. I’ve been using this combo as my daily shadow!
Hi Gals! Thanks for stoppin’ in! Monique, I KNNNOOOOOW that trio would totally rock on you– get on it girl!!!
Shauna, you have a lot in common with so many, especially with Gleam for sure! They’re excellent shades!!! Good goin’ dolls!

Seriously thank you for this post! I love that you showed the eyeshadow side by side with primer and without primer. I don’t currently use an eyeshadow primer, but now I see I need to get one! My favorite eyeshadow is MAC Paradisco Frost… it is a coral color and I love it! Thanks again for the review!
Hi Rachel! I’m so glad you found this helpful! Primer definitely makes a measurable difference in color payoff and length of wear, you won’t be sorry if you end up picking one up. I’ll also be reviewing the new Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Eden soon, so stay tuned for that one!

I cannot live without Behind the Scenes Eye Primer! It is like magic. I also love those eye shadows, because they are idiot-proof for people like me who need coordinating colors in one convenient little package.
