SK-II Skin Signature 3D Redefining MaskIn my mind, SK-II has been one of those luxury brands that I’ve always wanted to indulge in–but never found quite as accessible as I would like.  At least here in the states, it’s available only at a few select retailers like Saks.  And let me just tell you, I’ve never felt more out of place walking into a store in my life than when I cross the threshold at Saks in Beverly Hills.  I could just be projecting and totally wrong here, but I feel like I’m getting the evil eye at all the counters as in– “surely honey, your kind belongs at a Macy’s in the valley”.  Oh…if they only knew!  So it’s intimidating and I never ask for help, then exit stage left because of the overall uncomfortable ambiance…which I need to just get over.  It’s not SK-II’s fault, right?

I’m excited to say that I’ve finally had a chance to experience the prestigious skincare brand known for it’s signature ingredient, Pitera (discovered over 30 years ago in Japan almost on accident).  Let’s take a closer look at the Skin Signature 3D Redefining Mask!

SK-II Skin Signature 3D Redefining Mask

(pardon the lighting, it’s horrible here)

No, that’s not a Michael Myer’s Halloween mask–but two pieces of a stretchable and specially formulated treatment for three different areas of the face that have different needs.  The design allows the mask to target the highest part of the cheeks, the nasolabial folds, and the corners of the mouth, all at the same time.  For that reason, you’ll find the key ingredients in the top half are a little bit different than the bottom half and that’s pretty innovative in my opinion!

For best results, you’re supposed to wear a pre-moistened mask (1 time use each mask) for 5-10 minutes twice weekly.  Admittedly, they are a little pricey as a package of six treatments retails for $135.  This really is a luxurious line, and I understand it may be more of a treat than a necessity.  I had one sample, and let me tell you–it was AMAZING for my 30-something skin.  I don’t imagine that lucky 22 year-olds will need this product, but for mid-thirties to more mature skin, this should be right up your alley.  For 10 minutes, I enjoyed the cooling sensation, the relaxing botanical fragrance, and deep hydration while prancing around the house with it on (and I also loved scaring my husband to death).  It contorts to the shape of the face very easy since it’s stretchable and hit every point I needed it to.  When it was all said and done and the mask was removed, my skin felt firm and moist, my nasolabial folds were dramatically reduced, as well as my furrowed brow seeming less noticeable.  The color of my skin was brighter, the clarity was there–reminding me of just how glowy I get when I use the Bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask, but even better.  My skin was just downright happy!  But like all treatment products, this result didn’t last forever.  According to SK-II, this mask will continue to produce radiance, smoothness, and firm appearance improvements over time.

My first (and hopefully not my last) SK-II experience was a grand success, and luckily we can satisfy our cravings on their website if it’s not readily available in your area (I believe it’s also at select Bloomingdale’s).  Or in my case, I just can’t hang with my local Saks, so online it is.  I hear excellent things about their Signs Transform Foundation too.  Has anyone ever tried any of their products?  Do tell!
