Are you ready to check out the new Hong Kong Collection from OPI? I was able to see it up close and personal for the first time yesterday, and let me tell you–there are some new nail polish shades in this OPI spring/summer 2010 collection that will WOW you. If you liked the color contrasts in the Colección de España from last fall, there’s a 99.9% chance you’ll love Hong Kong!
Here’s the shade breakdown with their descriptions from OPI:
Hot & Spicy — A sizzling coral that’s a kung pao wow!
A Good Man-darin is Hard to Find — But you’ve found it in this zesty red-orange!
Red My Fortune Cookie — And this rich red is in my future.
Chop-sticking to My Story — I mean it, “pick up” this warm caramel shade!
Bling Dynasty — A char – “ming” gold that shimmers and glimmers.
Jade is the New Black — This vibrant green is the new fashion vibe.
Pearl of Wisdom — Smart girls choose this lustrous pearl shade.
Panda-monium Pink — Lend a panda a handa-in this uproarious light pink.
Lucky Lucky Lavender — Be pretty and prosperous in this luscious light purple.
Dim Sum Plum — A berry delectable delicacy.
Meet Me on the Star Ferry — A Kowloon-lit moonlit violet.
Suzi Says Feng Shui — A serene cobalt blue to balance your yin yang.
Because there are 12 shades in this collection, I’ve broken the swatches up in two parts. Here are the first six!

I really like the vibrancy of the colors in the Hong Kong collection, all of the shades are rich and bright–there’s nothing muted about them. Dim Sum Plum, Jade is the New Black, and Suzi Says Feng Shui caught me right off the bat for that very reason! Jade is the New Black is a sure-fire winner here and will be insanely popular, without a doubt in my mind. Suzi Says Feng Shui reminds me of No Room For the Blues from the Paige Denim collection, but this one isn’t nearly as sky blue as No Room For the Blues.

In the red/orange/coral department, I thought these shades were hot! Red My Fortune Cookie is a winner, and Hot & Spicy took me completely by surprise. You know red-orange tones and I are not the best of friends, but A Good Man-darin is Hard to Find made me want to go out and buy a crate of tangerines! It is SO rich, and one that you really have to see in person to truly appreciate.
(swatches were done with two coats and without top coat)

Oooooh! Ahhhh! Thank you so much for the great review! I keep hearing about this collection but it’s great to finally see swatches (and yours are always amazing, btw). I NEEEED Jade is the New Black in my life. Did you hear me? I NEED it! lol!
Suzi says Feng Shui & Red My Fortune Cookie are just “The Gorg”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m really excited about the first 3 colors. They’re so pretty.
The only thing that bugs me about OPI polish is the thick brush. I have petite nail beds & for me, the polish can be a little “gloppy” to apply.
Hi Park Avenue!
You’re right, I can totally see where a wide brush might pose an issue with smaller nail beds. Now you’ve made me want to ask around for solutions from several different manicurists
If I find out any brush-holding tips to avoid this, I’ll be sure to share!
