Review: Stila One Step Makeup Foundation

I can’t recall how long it’s been since Stila released a new liquid foundation, I think my Mom has been wearing the same one since Stila first hit our local Nordstrom counter in the nineties.  I’m serious!  It just goes to show you how loyal we become once we find that one Holy Grail product and hang on to it for dear life.  Last week, I had my Mom put some of the new Stila One Step Makeup Foundation on her hand as a teaser, part of me knew she would flip out and must have it, and the other small part of me feared she would still wear her original old-school foundation.  What really happened would require more exclamation points than I care to type, or you care to see in a single post!  She LOVED it for the texture and coverage alone before it even hit her face.  She demanded I send her the URL so that she could order a bottle of her own. (luckily we’re different shades, *whew*)  So now we are both pleased as punch with our own bottles of One Step Makeup…but why, right?

The texture: It comes out of the pump almost like a whipped foundation and glides on the skin like buttah!

The coverage: This foundation offers medium to full coverage depending on application.  I was able to get full coverage with my fingers, and medium coverage by using a foundation brush.

The finish: Soft and smooth, adds a subtle matte finish with a little bit of pore minimizing effects.  Long wearing, it holds up pretty well for a routine day!

The multi-benefits: Stila One Step Makeup Foundation is a 4-in-1 product!  Need primer, foundation, concealer, and finishing powder?  You’re all set in one step!

It gets even better!  With 100% mineral pigments, it’s a high definition worthy formula that controls oil, balances the skin, and is both paraben and fragrance free.  See why we’re hooked now?

I received a bottle of this in the new Stila Makeup Player and I love it! It is not too thick, has great coverage and stays put all day. I apply it just in spots I need coverage and it works great for that. I’m usually a tinted moisturizer kind of gal, but I’m hooked on this as well! I think Stila is making a heavy comeback this year…

Hey Amanda!

I agree with everything you said! I’m happy to see Stila is back and starting to “wreck shop” again ;)

I’ll have to try this! Lately my skin has been too dry to handle my usual mineral powder foundation, but the MUFE liquid one I got really doesn’t last all day on me. Thanks!

I tried the new one step foundation from stila. I didn’t like it at first. It looked cakey and dry. I was disappointed. Then I used my stila hydrating primer. It worked like a dream. I wondered why I would need the extra primer but whatever. It worked. So much for one step makeup. I didn’t like the convertible color either, It looked so orange on my cheeks and brown on my lips. But I decided to wear my new make up out. I have had some nice compliments. I think this has been a change for me. I like the new make up with the primer and the convertible color with a lip glaze.

Hey Trude! MUFE isn’t lasting? OMG, that is weird! Out of curiosity, which one are you wearing so I’ll remember :)

Hi Susan, what a bummer–I’m glad you found a way to make it work to your liking. I like the Convertible Colors, but when I wear them on my cheeks sometimes I feel like they settle into my pores after a while. Nice tip with the Lip Glaze! I will have to try that out ;)

I love this new product from Stila…………..only one problem, it broke my face out with zits. I’m of the age that zits don’t usually occur, regardless. I do have large pores that I take really good care of too. I tried, cleared my face back up and tried again to be sure it was the product and it broke out again. I am heartbroken because I absolutely love the way this makeup goes on and the texture it leaves. It also lasts all day. Unfortunately for me, I gave it to my sister and hope it works for her. All I can say is boo hoo and I hope you ALL try it because its beautiful, just not for my skin.

Tiffany, I don’t think Stila sends samples unless it’s with an order, but you should stop into Sephora, get color matched and ask for a sample there :)
