Currently Loving: Leila Lou by Rosie Jane Perfume Oil

Leila LouLast September when I was in New York, I discovered a hidden gem sitting on a counter inside of The Plaza Beauty by Warren Tricomi.  The simplicity of the bottle and it’s display is what initially drew me to Leila Lou, and the second I took a whiff–I didn’t want to put it down.  I tried to justify it’s purchase in every way imaginable: I had plenty of room in my suitcase for the tiny bottle (I didn’t), I would wear it every single day for the rest of my life (who are we fooling here with all of my perfume bottles?), and my favorite–no one else except for myself inspects my MasterCard statements (true, but scary!).  I put the Leila Lou tester down and walked away sad, but smellin’ pretty for the rest of the night.  I came back home to LA a few days later, sans Leila Lou…boo.

Recently, my pal Valerie at Beauty Girl Reviews reminded me of Leila Lou when she reviewed it and I’m SO glad!  Just like Valerie said–Leila Lou is “springtime in a bottle”!  I love the juicy pear, tangerine, and fresh cut grass notes it leaves behind.  If you enjoy perfumes like CLEAN, you will probably LOVE Leila Lou.  100% essential oils make it a long-lasting fragrance that I can’t get enough of.  (I actually just smelled my wrist AGAIN for the 10th time since writing this post.  No joke.)  My only complaint–Leila Lou doesn’t come in a 55-gallon drum, but it does come in a 60-hour soy blend wax candle which is an absolute necessity for my desk or I will just die.  This is serious business.

Thanks for the shout out, Amber! Leila Lou is aaaaamazing. And, no kidding, I have worn it every single day since I bought it! Every other perfume smells too, well, perfumey to me now. I love this stuff so much.

Wow, I wish I’d read your review before I bought this stuff! I ordered it before smelling it (just like my NEVER touched bottle of Clean) and it came today. I got suckered in by the couple of reviews I read raving about it. As soon as I opened it and gave a good whiff I immediately knew I hated it, just like my NEVER touched bottle of Clean. From the reviews I expected something slightly warmer with fresh cut grass notes, and a simple citrus- along the lines of BCBGirls Nature. Nope, not at all! It smells very similar to Clean to me, like soap. Not good smelling scented soap though, like the soap that just wants to smell like soap- blech! I hope I learned this time— ONLY BUY PERFUME IN PERSON!!!

Hi Bethany,

Wow! Sounds like you really disliked it :( I am one of those love-to-smell-like-soap gals, and I love it dearly for that reason. Perfume can be a tricky thing, that’s one of the reasons I compared it to Clean so you could get a better idea of the genre it’s in. I definitely have to say it’s an acquired thing. I have friends who think I am nutso for wanting to smell like fabric softener all the time!

I have a 3 year old daughter named leila Louise, so when I saw Leila Lou listed as Jennifer Aniston’s favorite scent in People Magazine, I decided it was fate and ordered. I will let you know the verdict as soon as I receive it.
Thanks
Jennifer
