Currently Loving: Vapour Organic Beauty

by Amber on March 11, 2010

in cheek stain / blush,concealer,eco-friendly beauty,eyeshadow,lip gloss,lipstick,makeup,product reviews

It’s easy for me to become intimidated by anything that’s in a cream base, and if you have enlarged pores and a shiny t-zone–you probably know exactly why!  Often the formulas settle into my pores and only emphasize them, it’s not quite the look I was going for.  At first glance at the Vapour Organic Beauty products, I thought they would all be cream bases because they’re mostly packaged in stick form…but they aren’t creams, and then they are.  I’ll try my best to describe them!

All of the products I tried were super light and airy, with the textures smooth and luminous, giving my skin a healthy glow–not that Exxon Valdez look in my t-zone an hour later.  The colors are derived from mineral-based pigments in a 100% natural, breathable, and hydrating base that moves with the skin to reflect light instead of looking flat, dry, and cakey.  Sounds kinda impossible, huh?

As glowy as my skin looks in the photo is how it stayed, all day!  It didn’t get oily and slick, nor did the foundation and concealer break up and start to move around during the day which is what typically happens for me with anything creamy.  The Illusionist Perfecting Concealer provided just the right amount of coverage to conceal darkness under the eyes and broken capillaries around my nose, without drawing even more attention to my trouble spots.  Atmosphere Luminous Foundation is love in a blue tube!  It blended so smoothly and easily, imparting just the right amount of coverage that didn’t look like makeup, it looked like my skin.  It didn’t sit in my pores or lines at all! (If you struggle with very oily skin, you still might want to use a mattifying primer.)  Aura Multi-Use Blush in Spark gave a fresh and just-pinched flush to my cheeks and can also be used on the lips and eyes.  It’s hard for me to pick a favorite Vapour item, because even the lippies were amazing.  Siren Lipstick and Elixir Lip Gloss made a natural, pretty, and glossy pair.  So I guess it’s safe to say I loved what I tried from Vapour!

All of Vapour Organic Beauty’s products are 100% natural and chemical free, with a minimum of 70% certified organic ingredients.  If you like a more natural, fresh-faced look or prefer organic and chemical-free cosmetic solutions, I would check out Vapour.

Great post! I too, adore Vapour Beauty, and love their Screen Siren Lipsticks. In fact, their foundation and Lipsticks are pretty much what I use all the time, since I’m vegan too.

Hi Charu! They’re pretty awesome, aren’t they?! The foundation is KILLER. It has to be one of the best “cream” foundations I’ve tried, but it’s not at all heavy like they’re known to be from most brands. Miss you! I promise I will be back to NYC one day…

Sounds like a great product! I am always looking for the next best organic makeup! I have been looking for a creme to powder type foundation too. I am just curious if Vapour Organics uses nanoparticles in their formulation?

Hi TB,

It’s hard to explain because it really doesn’t even change to a powder either. I don’t have an exact answer from the company to your question, but I will say the ingredients are food grade, so I don’t think so. Hope that helps!
