Taylor Swift Named CoverGirl’s Newest Face

In breaking beauty news, it’s just hitting the interwebs that America’s sweetheart, Taylor Swift has been added to the lineup of gorgeous famous faces repping the CoverGirl line.  According to Women’s Wear Daily, Swift will appear in print and TV advertising for a yet-to-be announced product line.  Hmm…I wonder what that could be?  I’ll be sure to follow up once I receive more details!

I’m not sayin’ I called this several months ago…well, okay–it’s more like I “wished” it would happen because let’s face it, the girl is just too pretty not to be someone’s brand ambassador!

Congrats to Taylor who will join Queen Latifah, Ellen DeGeneres, Drew Barrymore, Dania Ramirez, and Rihanna.  You’re in good company girl!

Edited to add official information directly from CoverGirl:

“I am so excited to become the next COVERGIRL,” said Swift.  “I have admired many of the COVERGIRLs since I was a little girl . . . great artists and actresses who are confident and still themselves.  It’s like a dream come true to be a part of the future of COVERGIRL.”

The ads are scheduled to debut in January 2011 along with a new line of luxury cosmetics.

Currently Loving: Milani 3D Glitzy Glamour Gloss

When I first spied these Milani lippies, I figured they were just another collection of chunky, glittery glosses that I wouldn’t find very wearable…and I guess it’s true that you can’t judge a book by it’s cover (or a lip gloss by it’s tube for that matter).  Imagine my surprise when Milani 3D Glitzy Glamour Gloss ended up pretty much rocking my world, it was true love at first swipe!  Believe it or not, I actually dig it when I’m wrong about things like this.  I guess it would help if I told you what I found so awesome about them, right?

• Beautiful twinkle!  Almost like I had thousands of little stars on my lips

• Enormous amount of shine with a glass-like finish

• Smooth texture, not sticky or tacky at all

Of the seven available shades, I checked out In Vogue and Starshine:

Review: TouchBack Temporary Hair Color Marker

Despite the fact that scrubbing black hair color out of my shower every 2-3 weeks isn’t one of my favorite past times, I haven’t been able to keep up with my recent root re-touch because my scalp is very upset with me.  It seems it just knows when our shower filter needs to be replaced…apparently sooner than I do!  I had an event to attend over the weekend and I didn’t want to go with my lovely gray roots showing, but I couldn’t color my hair either because my scalp is extremely sore and irritated.  And that was when the hair fairies reminded me (or more like I remembered) that I had the perfect product for the situation just waiting for me to evaluate.  TouchBack is a temporary hair color marker that claims to instantly and effortlessly disguise gray roots until your next shampoo, so it was a perfect time to put it to the test!

Somewhat resembling a big fat Sharpie, TouchBack contains a temporary hair color (available in 8 shades) without any ammonia or peroxide that actually bonds to your hair and will stay put through brushing.  In bona fide hair color emergencies, I’ve used hair mascaras before but they flake and are a serious pain to use!  Being realistic, I knew that if I was going to get away with this little secret of mine over the weekend that I’d have to make a sacrifice on my hairstyle.  So I opted to wear it up and applied TouchBack (in Rich Black) only where my hair parts and to a few spots around my hairline.  And what do you know?  It totally worked and got me by without looking obvious or consuming a lot of time to camouflage my gray.  It washed out easily this morning and now I’m back at square one waiting for my scalp to behave so I can stop this madness once and for all (well–at least for 2 weeks) and properly color my hair.  The TouchBack marker should last for about 40-50 uses and retails for $29.95, it’s something I personally would consider purchasing to keep on hand as part of a beauty first aid kit for use when I can’t carry out the whole drama of coloring my hair.  It was easy, mess-free, and quick.  Now only if we could get hair color brands to make our at-home color re-touches as painless…

6 Better Ways to Exfoliate for Sunless Tan Fans

Exfoliating before using a self-tanning product is an essential step if you want to ensure a streak-free application with even color development.  I have to admit, it’s pretty tempting to skip in the essence of time!  What’s even worse is when you take the time to exfoliate before sunless tanning and your skin is coated in an oily residue which ends up botching up your efforts.  Talk about watching all of your hard work go down the drain!  Don’t get me wrong, I love the way my skin feels after an intense scrub with a little bit of oil left behind to soothe and hydrate my dry skin, but before tanning–not so much.  In search of a better way to exfoliate prior to self-tanning minus the oil slick, Kristin and I tried out a few products to see if they were good candidates for the job.  Here’s what we discovered:

Honeycat Cosmetics Calypso Kitty Pineapple Scrub

I wanted nothing more than to taste this incredible body treat, it smells divine!  Even though there are carrot and rice bran oils in the mix, Calypso Kitty absorbed right into my skin after use.  With pineapple, mango, passion fruit, and coconut blended with dead sea salt, this is one of the drier salt scrubs I’ve used and it rocked.

Review & Swatches: Zoya Sparkle Collection

Zoya just released two summer collections, Sparkle and Flash, and I have both of them to share with you!  However, this post revolves around Sparkle, while Flash will be featured shortly in an upcoming post.  Let’s get to it!

Sparkle contains six new metallic shades with a twist, they all have foil-glitter and and are very rich in color saturation.  What I love about this collection is that these glittery shades look anything but childish!  You know how some glittery polishes just look like any old color with some glitter tossed into the formula as an afterthought?  Sometimes it’s almost like the brands didn’t know what else to do to make a shade different so they said, “Hey!  Let’s just throw some glitter in here and call it a day!” which often results in some chunky polish that looks like it belongs on a kindergartner.  These are brilliant big-girl shades with strong color bases that give off incredible shine, they’re smooth to the touch and they have so much dimension that I can’t believe it.

Clearly, it was love at first sight for me when I saw Sparkle, and it’s very rare that I go that nuts over something that has glitter in it.  So enough of my raving, here’s the shade breakdown:

Gilda — sparkling metallic pink
Nidhi — sparkling rich red
Alegra – sparkling fuchsia
Mimi — sparkling royal purple
Charla — sparkling tropical blue
Ivanka — sparkling mermaid green

And now, see why I love these so much:

Heidi Klum’s New Haircut: Conduct Unbecoming of a Supermodel

Dear Heidi Klum,

Mick Jagger called and he’s pissed.  He said he wants his hair back:

Maybe it’s just me, but I am not loving this new haircut that Heidi is sporting.  While I’m a huge proponent of change and breaking the rules, this hairstyle is a little a lot too severe for her delicate features.

I can’t get no satisfaction out of Heidi’s new ‘do.  Who’s with me?

Design a Tote-ally Green Tote Bag, Win a Bloomingdale’s Gift Card

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Bloomingdale’s. All opinions are 100% mine.

I know I’m not the most environmentally responsible person on the planet, but I’m learning!  There are a few things I do that I’d like to think will help reduce my carbon footprint–like turning the faucet off while I’m brushing my teeth, combining all of my errands that require driving into one outing to conserve fuel and cut down on emissions, and I take my own shopping bags with me to the grocery store.  I have several tote bags at-hand that are always ready to go on my way out the door.  In the rare event that I accidentally forget them, I always ask for paper instead of plastic–those things are bad news!  So I thought I’d tell you about a special contest that Bloomingdale’s is having, the Tote-ally Green design contest.

Best of: Earth Day Beauty 2010

Today marks the 40th anniversary of Earth Day!  Did you know…

• we started recognizing this day of awareness to protect the earth’s environment back in 1970?

• Earth Day is recognized in the Northern Hemisphere in the spring, while the Southern Hemisphere observes it in the fall?

• Earth Day was founded by a U.S. Senator? (Gaylord Nelson)

• it’s purpose is to raise awareness and encourage environmentally responsible behaviors like recycling, reducing or reusing disposable items, and being more energy efficient?

In observance, check out few beauty products that will help make every day Earth Day!

Privé Concept Vert Rejuvenating Pure Shampoo & Conditioner

Arguably the COOLEST shampoo & conditioner I’ve ever used, both formulas are extremely concentrated and dispensed from aluminum cans with air-power technology.  This benefits the earth (and you!) in many ways.  For starters: 6.7 fl. oz. actually yields an entire 13 fl. oz. bottle of shampoo & conditioner as it expands (similar to shaving cream) into a rich and creamy foam, it’s an environmentally responsible product since it weighs less but delivers more product–cutting down on emissions during shipping to retailers, the cans will be accepted back at the salon for reuse (or you can recycle them at a local facility), the formulas contain more than 50% of ingredients derived replenishable sources, and contain zero parabens or sulfates along with a long list of other undesirable additives!  As if that weren’t enough, both products deliver gorgeous results and smell incredible.
