Review: Lancome Color Design Matte Lipstick

If you’re a matte kinda girl, you know that matte anything can be kind of difficult.  While matte products like foundation and lipstick deliver great coverage, they can often look very dry and cakey–and you know how it goes with lipstick.  Matte lipstick is just HARD to wear for some people but they want the look minus the packed on dry look, and luckily I found out that Lancome’s recent additions to their Color Design lipstick range are ANYTHING but hard to wear!

Lancome Color Design Matte Lipstick takes matte to a whole new level, instead of dry, powdery pigments–they’ve used pigments in a very lightweight gel base that gives the appearance of matte without the undesirable matte nightmare side effects.

This incredible formula is available in 8 perfect shades:

Red Haute
Posh Pink
Lucky Kiss
Corset
Plum Show
Pink Preview
Bronze Show
Stylista

I tried out Red Haute and Posh Pink and loved the intensity of the colors, but they weren’t so out there that I couldn’t wear them in daylight.  You can wear bright, and you can wear matte from 9-5 without looking like Courtney Love if you do it right–and I would recommend the Color Design Mattes for that!

One of the things I appreciate about this formula is that it didn’t start disappearing from the middle of my lips and leave me with a few flakes of color on the outside of my lips an hour after applying.  You’ll have to reapply this of course, but I found that it remained wearable longer than other mattes I wear–even my favorite NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella, as these are less high maintenance in my opinion.  I don’t detect any fragrance or flavor in these lippies, so if you’re sensitive to that but still want a high-impact lipstick, I suggest checking these out.  For anyone that likes the idea of Red Haute (or any red lipstick in general) but just can’t wear reds because you are too afraid of the intensity, try applying it lightly with a finger to make it look like a stain.  It works like a charm, and after a few times of wearing bold colors like that–you’ll be surprised what you’ll try next!
