Currently Loving: CoverGirl LiquilineBlast Eyeliner

As a fan of Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencils, I’m a little bit on the snobby side when it comes to eyeliners.  Hey–at least I admit it, right?  Because of that, I’m not so easily swayed by new ones.  However–lately there have been some exceptional new eye definers to hit shelves and I’ve got more on those to come.  I couldn’t wait for this one though, so I had to take this opportunity to share my love for the new CoverGirl LiquilineBlast Eyeliner.

LiquilineBlast has a smooth formula that’s tug-free and skip-free, and glides along the skin.  Even if you’re not the most skilled at applying your eyeliner, this pencil is pretty forgiving because the glide gives you more control and looks like it was applied in a nice smooth line.  The colors are beautiful and the pigments are pretty vibrant, especially for being a drugstore brand–which makes them that much better!  There’s a smudger tip on the bottom which you can use to blur out the line if you’d like for a little bit of a smoky look, or if you made a mistake (which I often do), you can make it look intentional after some very easy blending.  To top it off, Liquiline is long-wearing, kudos to CoverGirl for these!

Black Fire
Brown Blaze
Violet Voltage
Silver Spark
Blue Bloom
Green Glow

I took three of the six shades for a test drive: Silver Spark, Violet Voltage, and Green Glow:

The smudger is pretty neat–it’s tapered at the tip and it’s made of a durable silicone-type material instead of a stiff sponge that will inevitably fall apart long before you’re finished with the pencil.  It won’t permanently accumulate all of the excess eyeshadow/eyeliner in it that you smudge, and it wipes off clean:

The shades I tried looked great, my absolute favorite of course was Green Glow–totally gorge!  But these had some pretty impressive staying power after being smudged too.

I’ve seen these trickling into retailers lately, but a wide-release is set for July and they’ll retail for about $7.99.  What do you think?  Interested in CoverGirl LiquilineBlast?  After seeing Green Glow, I must try out Blue Bloom!  Which shade catches your eye most?

Sure you can Victoria, just smudge a thin line and wear it with mascara ;)

I’ve been very much into my Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner pencils so I’ll definitely have to try these. Covergirl has REALLY stepped up their game as of late.

Yes TJ! While these might not last as long as UD, they definitely are in the same neighborhood in my opinion. So far–they’re the closest thing at mass-market to the prestige line.

How do you get the pencil to actually advance or come farther out of the container? I have tried and tried to figure it out but I can’t get it advance…?

Hi Amelia,

A standard eyeliner pencil sharpener will do ;) Just try not to press too hard because as you already know, the pencil is softer than traditional eyeliners and the tip will break. Hope that helps!

I love this but want to know how to sharpen this pencil. Do I use a regular eye pencil sharpner….

Hi Crystal,

I’ve just used a standard eyeliner sharpener that I bought ages ago at Sephora for about $3. I know that the beauty sections at CVS, Target, etc. have sharpeners that are inexpensive too that will work. A little tip; try not to jam the pencil tip in too hard while sharpening this one—since it’s soft, it breaks off more than a lot of other pencils I’ve owned. Hope that helps!

I was excited for these, but wasn’t very impressed when I tried them. I thought it would give the look of liquid, but didn’t find it did anything different than anyother eye pencil. The smudger didn’t do much for me either. I am a Cover Girl user, and always have been but this product just didn’t do it for me.
