My Takeaways From CEW’s Women in Beauty Event with Cristina Carlino

Last week I attended an incredible CEW Women in Beauty event, with Cristina Carlino–the founder of Philosophy as the guest speaker.  Even though I don’t have a product line and I don’t work for a beauty brand, I took away several words of wisdom from Cristina’s years of experience as a cosmetic industry pioneer and innovator.  Here it is, a little over a week later and I can still hear bits and pieces of what she said resonating in my head.  It was pretty powerful stuff for anyone to hear and apply to their daily lives, regardless of whether you’re in the industry in the capacity to which most executives and brand owners are or not.  Here are a few things Cristina said that can benefit anyone:

It doesn’t have to be new, it just has to be great.

Philanthropy in business is more important today than ever.  Stand up and say “This is what I care about.”

Do not personalize anything going on in your business.

The networking potential available by merely being in the room with these women (who all desire to take things to the next level and be the best in their field) is pretty inspiring and priceless all on it’s own.  If you ever have a chance to attend a CEW event, I whole-heartedly encourage it!
