Just For Fun: 4th of July Nail Art

My husband came home last night and these were his words exactly, “Whoa!  Your nails look like the star spangled banner!”

Thanks honey, that was kinda what I was going for, sounds like I succeeded!  I picked up some nail decals at Sally Beauty Supply, they’re by Cina Nail Creations (aptly dubbed “Star Spangled”) and they were about $4.50.  I didn’t save the receipt (oops!) so I’m taking an educated guess from my memory.  After I applied 2 coats of Hard Candy Just Nails in Lava, I took some white polish and made three stripes on my pointer finger, and painted the outer corner of my ring finger white.  After it dried, I applied nail decals on those two fingers and sealed them off with Out The Door top coat.  Wah-lah!  A little Americana on my nails for the 4th of July.

    Your nails look fantastic! HC’s Lava is such a pretty red.

    I actually have those same nail decals, too. While I liked the way they looked, I definitely didn’t like the way they applied. For some reason, I couldn’t get them to stay completely flat! :)

    Thanks Melany! I had the same problem starting out, but I wasn’t allowing the polish to dry before applying them… I’m so impatient! Once the polish was dry, I pressed the decals down with tweezers and applied the top coat and all was well. I was expecting them to really stick like other decals I’ve tried but they are a little different ;) Have a great holiday!
