Remember these? I’m personally not too fond of them. As a former hairstylist, I always seemed to have the hardest time using marcel curling irons. Trust me, it’s not a good time to fumble one of them when they’re piping hot and there’s a real person’s hair in your hands. What’s even harder for me? Using a marcel iron on myself, that is just asking for it! What makes it difficult for me is that it’s not spring loaded for one, and two–you need to have more dexterity than I have to swivel that bar and handle around.
On the other hand, most professionals will tell you that they prefer marcel curling irons because you have more control over the wave pattern. If you can master the marcel technique, you probably won’t ever go back to a spring loaded curling iron for that very reason.
White Sands figured out how to give someone like me the best of both worlds though, with the Spring Marcel Curling Iron.

Just below the clamp button, you can twirl the barrel very easily while the iron stays stationary, resulting in the marcel effect. LOVE THAT! White Sands Spring Marcel Irons are available in three sizes, 1 inch, 1.25 inches, and 1.33 inches. I tried out the 1.25, it was perfect for creating waves in my shoulder length hair. Right out of the box I was using it like I actually knew what I was doing, I was pretty proud of myself. And then I was all–oh, this is supposed to be really easy! The temperature control is digital, so you can see exactly where it’s at–no more guess work, and it goes as high as 410°. This is a professional grade titanium iron, it’s lightweight, it holds heat evenly, and prevents hair from sticking to the iron and gives the user complete control. These retail for $110 and are available for purchase on whitesandsproducts.com

lol… lol… Click ..click…click A must @ State Board.
Yes Chris…I agree Click…Click…Click. I just graduated from cosmetology school (state board date March 11th) and we received a Marcel in our kit. I enjoyed using it on my clients and it appeared to be a great product. I however never did get to use it on my self, as it, as well as my flatiron was stolen out of my kit. But back to the question…I liked the Marcel alot better than the spring loaded curling irons.
