In a move that proves consumer-brands are starting to pay attention to growing global environmental concerns, P&G announced on Thursday that they’re taking the steps necessary to begin producing more earth-friendly and sustainable product packaging; sourced from Brazilian sugarcane on several of their leading beauty brands. Replacing the current non-renewable petroleum-based plastic packaging is huge news for our footprint. Pantene endorser in Brazil, Gisele Bundchen was on-hand in her home country of Brazil for the P&G announcement.

Obviously we still have a long way to go as a global community, but this is definitely a step in the right direction! Below is a note with more details on the effort from Ed Shirley, Vice-Chairman of P&G Beauty & Grooming:
I am thrilled to announce P&G’s plan to launch sustainable, renewable packaging made from Brazilian sugarcane, on three of our leading global beauty brands – Pantene Pro-V, COVERGIRL and Max Factor. By starting to replace traditional, non-renewable petroleum-based plastic with renewable alternatives, we’re leading the industry in science-based sustainable innovation and demonstrating our commitment to sustainability.
P&G Beauty & Grooming’s ongoing approach to sustainability is based on a scientific assessment of a product’s full environmental impact. The switch to renewable packaging will be made globally over the course of the next two years to make the most meaningful improvement to our footprint that we can.
This initiative, together with others you’ll be hearing about from us soon, will help meet the needs of women around the world who’ve been telling us that they want more environmentally-friendly products with no trade-offs in performance, aesthetic or value.
Sincerely,
Ed Shirley
Vice-Chairman, Beauty & Grooming

That is SOOOOOOO fantastic! Hopefully other companies will do the same!!! I will certainly buy P&G products with renewable packaging as opposed to other brands.
