Review: Too Faced Size Queen Mascara

Like massive lashes? This new mascara from Too Faced might be for you. You may remember my mention of Size Queen Mascara from last week, when I went to Too Faced headquarters (aka, The Glam Factory). I finally had a chance to give it a few good test drives, and I’m ready to share the details!

Size Queen has a ginormous brush that’s shaped like a corkscrew, with alternating short and long rows of bristles. The formula promises to lengthen, thicken, and curl due to the combo of the brush and special volumizing fibers that grab on to the lashes to elongate them. The mascara also uses a lash conditioning formula—it contains panthenol, vitamins C & E, and red algae (increases keratin resistance) to nourish the lashes and help keep them flexible.

But does it work?

It works for me! But here’s the thing—I don’t think Size Queen will be every one’s cup of tea. You know how some of us like the fat lashes that DiorShow provides, and some of us just like clean definition? This is going to be the mascara for the gals that like large brushes; like that on DiorShow (actually—Size Queen’s is much bigger), and prefer a little drama. The formula isn’t as wet as most mascaras—but I find it to be less dry-looking than other mega-volumizers I’ve worn, so it sits perfectly in the middle of neither being too moist or too dry. The brush comes out of the tube nice and clean, and there’s no excess gunk on it which is great…because that’s when good mascaras go bad! They’ll clump otherwise.

The long and short of it…

As you can tell in the photo, the brush does a great job at grabbing as many lashes as possible, both long and short. It absolutely lengthens, thickens, and curls without looking too dry for me. Size Queen is launching with just one shade for now—Pitch Black, but I have no idea if more shades will be released at a later date. While the formula isn’t waterproof, it does stay put! I’ve actually taken a nap with it on, and my lashes looked pretty undisturbed. I haven’t experienced any flaking either, so it’s safe to say that this fared pretty well! But that brush will take some getting used to for sure, it’s huge! The key is going to be having patience with yourself, otherwise you might end up with it on your brow bone.

This is a Sephora exclusive, and it doesn’t look as though it’s in stock just yet—as this is being launched with the rest of the Too Faced summer collection. But with any hope, it should be available soon.

I found that I didn’t care for the brush. Its too big for my eye socket, its like I’m going to STAB MY EYES OUT.

  • Amber

Yeah, it won’t be for everyone…but I like it!

  • Laura

I like this mascara, the brush looks awesome and unique and it makes your lashes look awesome.
I just don’t know if I could spend $21 on a mascara when Covergirl Lashblast works really well for me and costs like $7-8.

This is going straight onto the wishlist. <3

The first thing I noticed when I looked at the photo of the Too Faced Size queen Mascara was the brush. You can just tell by looking at it that its going to lengthen the lashes. Cant wait to try it.

Hoping it comes out in brown soon. I prefer brown to black when it comes to mascara.

Looks like a nice mascara, but $21 is a little too much for me to spend.

I just bought this mascara today and I like the big brush and the intensity of the formula. If I had to compare this to another mascara it would have to be dior show minus the clumpiness. If you like extremelly black you’ll love this. I like high end and drugstore mascaras and think this is well worth it if you want to try something new. My favorites are Mac haute & naughty and covergirl lahblast volume.

Good call, Pamela! Minus the clumpiness, for sure 😉
