COVERGIRL LipPerfection Lip Transformation Challenge: Day 7

DAY 7

We did it! We made it through a week of testing the effectiveness of the Silk Moisturizing Complex in COVERGIRL LipPerfection Lipcolor together. I want to give each and every one of you a high-five and a sincere thank you for hanging in there with me for an entire week of lipstick posts from a single brand. I appreciate your support!

So, I have to tell you—just in case you’ve never had the chance to read the original review that I wrote about LipPerfection back in November of 2010, I had my reservations about these moisturizing claims. It’s one of the reasons I took this challenge so seriously, even 6 months later! Here are my own words from that post:

When it comes to the 7 day claim that Lip Perfection will transform the smoothness of your lips, here are my thoughts: I believe that if you change your lip color/lip balm habit for 7 days with any brand—you’re going to see either a welcome or an unwelcome result … So while I’m not discrediting Lip Perfection’s 7-day claim—I’m saying it’s all in how you look at it; is the glass half empty, or half full?

Wow! Looking back on that—I now feel some mixed emotions about what I said, given that I have actually experienced LipPerfection for 7 days straight (back then I hadn’t), without the help of any other lip product. It’s still true that you’re going to see a result one way or another, but this challenge has changed my mind about LipPerfection FOR SURE. Had I tried this experiment with another lipstick, there’s no doubt in my mind that the condition of my lips would have worsened over several days of use without anything else to condition my lips. And that’s what this was all about! COVERGIRL LipPerfection passed! For the final day, I chose Dazzle—a nice light pink with shimmer.

About the challenge:

A few weeks ago, COVERGIRL came to me with a fun idea, and that was to wear NOTHING but the new COVERGIRL LipPerfection Lipstick for 7 days. Now for me, I took this as a serious challenge because I’m a lip balm-aholic. Over the next 7 days, I will wear nothing on my lips except for one of LipPerfection’s amazing 44 shades, and chronicle the health of my lips in the process through my lip diary photos. At the end of the week, I’m hoping to see just how well COVERGIRL LipPerfection’s Silk Moisturizing Complex really works.     Thank you for doing this. I had about 5 of their shades before this and this week I got 3 more after seeing your posts. I have similar coloring to you so when they looked so good on you I had to have those colors too. I agree that they are wonderful all the way around but sometimes you do just want your trusty lip balm.

    Hi Teresa, WOW! Thank you so much! I agree, nothing will ever be able to replace my lip balm—but I’m happy to see there’s something out there that doesn’t dry your lips out like crazy…and it’s a rockin’ lipstick at the same time! I know they will look just as fab on you too :)

    Wow, that is a lot of swatches. I have been reading your challenges and think I will try this lipstick, usually don’t wear lipstick because it is so dry and I only wear lip gloss. Sounds like a grammar school girl. The problem will be what colors to choose since I like a lot of the colors.

    Hi Shari,

    I’ve always preferred gloss over lipstick myself. A long time ago, I worked for a beauty company that didn’t “require” lipstick over lip gloss per say, but let’s just say it was “encouraged”. (They wanted a specific look.) I learned to love lipstick during those years because of the color payoff. When I no longer worked for them, I became a fierce gloss advocate again as a way of revolting I think (looking back).

    I think 2011 is the year of the comeback of lipstick, and with all sincerity, this is one to wear that you won’t regret.

    If for any reason you don’t like it; I think most drugstores now have a great return policy with cosmetics that don’t work out for you. I hope you enjoy the line!

    I love this challenge! I don’t know if I could do without lip balm especially at night. Dazzle is my favorite! I wear it all the time.

    I love this. I think 200 is a very similar shade to a nude Covergirl lipstick I had a few years ago.. it was the best nude lipstick I had ever used, until my dog got to it :(
    This helped me find what I think is a close enough replacement. Many thanks

    I only have #270 and while I love the color I do feel that it dries me out. I actually have to wear balm underneath if I don’t want my lips to act up after. :( I would love to try other shades tho. do u think some colors are more moisturizing that others?

    I’m sorry to hear that #270 is drying for you! I wear a few of these often (Fairytale, Delish, Sweetheart), and I’ve never had an issue.
