Review & Swatches: OPI & Serena Williams Glam Slam! Wimbledon/England Collection

Have you been following the collaboration between OPI and tennis great (turned nail pro), Serena Williams? The two have joined forces to release some pretty creative color combinations in the recent past. First, it was the Glam Slam! duo to coincide with the Australian Open, then we received two duos in the Glam Slam! France collection. Up next for serve is Glam Slam! England, to coincide with Wimbledon. This collection will be released in two separate sets. Each containing one base color (Grape…Set…Match or Your Royal Shine-Ness), and an additional sparkling top coat (Servin’ Up Sparkle) with each.

“For stand-out nails, I love experimenting with different glitter shades,” explains Serena Williams. “The new Glam Slam! England lacquers can be worn alone for a bright pop of color, or layered with Servin’ Up Sparkle to create a textured effect.”

Grape…Set…Match is a majestic sparkling metallic purple with very faint duo-chrome properties. This one really twinkles!

Servin’ Up Sparkle is included in the Grape…Set…Match… duo pack (also with Your Royal Shine-Ness) and is a multi-dimensional sparkling silver glitter with light-reflective holographic qualities in a clear base. You can slightly feel the texture of the glitter on the nail, and it is made just a little better with the use of a top coat.

Your Royal Shine-Ness is a fantastic silver metallic shade with a great flow that almost looks like liquid metal when you are laying it down. This one was my favorite! I scoured my personal collection, thinking I’d find a dupe for it since I own so many silvers—but there was something special about this. It’s not glittery in that traditional sense, it’s also not really much of a foil, it’s just really shimmery but still unique. I think you’ll have to try this one to fully appreciate its beauty!

“England’s premier tennis tournament warrants colors with extra glitz and glamour,” said Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “The next big trend in nails is making lacquer look 3-dimensional by adding different micas and glitters, turning fingertips into jewelry. With two bold metallics and a sparkling glitter, these colors are fit for royalty.”

Do you plan on picking up a set? If so, will it be the Grape…Set…Match with Servin’ Up Sparkle duo, or will it be the Your Royal Shine-Ness with Servin’ Up Sparkle duo? We’ll have to wait until August 2011 for the final installment of the Glam Slam! series, which will conclude with the US Open.

Price & Availability: Glam Slam! England will be available beginning June 2011 at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for $14.95 ($20.95 CAN) suggested retail for each duo-pack.
