Nothing says you need a haircut more than a handful of split-ends. The chances are—if you’re styling your hair with heat tools (or even just being rough on your hair while you brush), you’ve got them. While it’s not possible to completely repair a split-end, there are plenty of new products to help you temporarily mend damaged ends back together, or to help prevent split-ends altogether. Here, we check out three of the latest in split-end defenders!
Pantene Split End Repair Crème
Pantene created this leave-in cream to work in conjunction with their Back To Strength Shampoo and Conditioner, but it certainly won’t hurt to apply this creamy balm on damp ends. It will help protect what’s left of your hair’s cuticle and temporarily fuse frazzled strands back together with keratin protecting ingredients. $5.99, mass retailers
Nexxus Pro-Mend Split End Binding Leave-In Crème
Nexxus claims that this targeted treatment “repairs 92% of split ends so hair looks & feels freshly cut.” An idea similar to the Pantene Split End Repair, Pro-Mend contains keratin amino-acids to nourish and strengthen the hair while helping to prevent the split end from traveling farther up the hair strand by binding the wayward ends together. User satisfaction scores fairly high with this product, and it smells great due to the coconut oil and jasmine extract. $10.99, mass retailers
Aussie Split-End Protector
This product from Aussie provides an ounce of prevention instead of masking the problem. If you apply Split-End Protector to wet hair before styling, it helps provide a slight “slip” to the hair, controlling the typical styling friction that can damage fragile ends. Regular use can contribute to overall hair strength against damage. $3.49, mass retailers
