I’ve got to be honest, I’m not your typical Proactiv client. I’m in my mid-thirties, and most of my acne woes are long gone. (Thankfully!) But there are a few acne woes I’m not immune to—stress breakouts that manifest themselves in hard, painful bumps along my jawline whenever I travel (which has been a lot lately), and also during that “special” time of month. And for the most part—my skin stays clear due to my consistent skincare regimen, but sometimes I have to call in the reinforcements for the whiteheads caused by excess sebum in my T-zone area too. And the blackheads? We won’t even get into that yet. After traveling this week, I had to reach for the Proactiv Refining Mask to show those bumps who is boss around here!
I’m fortunate enough to have access to some of the BEST skincare products that money can buy, but please believe me when I tell you that the blend of sulfur, tea tree oil, kaolin, and Vitamin E in the Refining Mask does my face a LOT of good if I use it whenever I feel that first bump coming on, when I return home from a trip, or for occasional maintenance. (And this product isn’t that expensive, either!) Sulfur is an antibacterial ingredient, kaolin dries up excess oil, and tea tree works as a natural antiseptic. All while Tocopherol (Vitamin E) helps to soothe some of the dryness that sulfur and kaolin can leave behind. What’s also great about this product, is that you can just spot-treat stubborn areas overnight, and I’ve been known to put a little on my chest too to curb those painful chest breakouts. It’s an award-winning formula for a reason.
Coming from someone who isn’t really battling a lot of acne on a consistent basis…
I felt it was important for me to become a Proactiv Ambassador with the hopes that you could relate to someone like me. I think there’s a big misconception that Proactiv is for teens and tweens—but what most people don’t know is that there are several products in the line that are geared to help people like us who have the occasional breakout that we need to rid quickly, and that there are also several products in the line that will help maintain the overall health of your skin, even if acne isn’t a main concern of yours. Over the next few months, I’m going to spotlight a few of those products for you—the unsung heroes, if you will. And maybe, you’ll find an unsung hero of your own from Proactiv that helps you out too! Next month, I’ll spotlight another one of my favorite Proactiv products—I hope you’ll join me on the journey to finding what works for you too!
