Laura Mercier’s 4 Simple Steps to a Flawless Face

It’s no secret that Laura Mercier’s complexion products are some of the most highly-heralded in the business. From her iconic Foundation Primer, to her array of perfectly wearable foundation options, Laura rocks the face world! Her theory is simple; there are four steps to a flawless face.

  1. Prime The Skin
  2. Apply Foundation
  3. Conceal
  4. Set with Powder

Easy, right? I chose a few products from her line to create my own flawless face…

Laura Mercier Original Foundation Primer — Just as a painter “primes” a canvas, Foundation Primer – the original – was created by Laura Mercier in 1995 to “prime” the skin. The colorless gel leaves makeup looking fresh and colour-true the entire day. Ideal for normal and combination skin, Vitamins A, C, and E act as antioxidants and protect the skin from harmful, aging effects of the environment. Try cooling the Foundation Primer in the refrigerator prior to application to refresh the skin and reduce any puffiness.

Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer — Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage completely camouflages dark circles, minor imperfections and discolorations. Secret Camouflage contains a unique two-shade system, one to match the skins depth of color and one to match the skins undertone, making it possible for every woman to custom-blend her own perfect shade.

Laura Mercier Foundation Powder — Laura Mercier Foundation Powder is a wet/dry powder formulation that contains oil control ingredients to hinder shine.

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder — Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder is an extremely lightweight, sheer and silky setting powder that contains the finest French “cashmere” talc and a unique light-reflecting ingredient that creates a “soft-focus” appearance for fine lines and imperfections.

I’ve got to tell you, I’m so glad that I took this foundation challenge—I actually came out with two favorite new products from Laura Mercier. I’m someone that prefers the dimethicone “slip” of a foundation primer, but hers was a gel—that performed like MAGIC. It quickly absorbed and made a smooth canvas for the amazing Secret Camouflage Concealer. I found Secret Camouflage had the perfect consistency and pigmentation to cover broken capillaries around my nose, and a little darkness under my eyes without looking crepey, cracked, or dry. It also didn’t slip-slide around all day, it stayed put! Her Foundation Primer and Secret Camouflage now rank highly among my Holy Grail products.

I’ve been wearing a lot of tinted moisturizers over the summer, and I couldn’t believe how incredible the coverage was with the Foundation Powder. It feels completely weightless, even on top of the primer and concealer—and it stays ALL DAY. And how about…even through a sweaty rock concert I went to? Yep! The Translucent Setting Powder is like the icing on the cake—and honestly a step I’ve been skipping over the past year or so. Using Laura Mercier’s is actually a pleasure, however. So when I’m using her products, I’ll make sure not to deviate from her perfect plan for a flawless face!

Laura believes there are four steps to create a flawless face—primer, foundation, concealer, and setting powder. Each product has been specifically developed to allow every woman to achieve an incredibly even, smooth, yet natural-looking complexion.
