No holiday would be complete without a glitter polish for twinkling fingertips and toes, and this year is no exception. Nicole by OPI offers up four new shades to brighten your polish collection (and your winter). It’s easy to transform your nails into 10 sparkling, bejeweled accessories with just a few coats of each!

“The holiday season’s celebratory feeling lends itself to added glitz and glamour in fashion, jewelry, accessories, and most importantly – for nails!” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, Nicole by OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “The four alluring Holiday Glitters shades offer a great way to add lots of color. Red and gold glitter tones offer a more classic holiday look, while magenta and sapphire blue incorporate rich, weighty jewel tones – which is another important trend for the season.”

Orna-Ment For Each Other is a fiery red glitter with yellow-gold and possibly orange microglitter. It’s truly hard for me to tell, but in certain angles—it looks as if some of that fire is a reflection of the gold and red casting light on each other. This is my favorite of the bunch due to that quality!

Snow-Man of My Dreams is a predominantly sapphire glitter with added multi-color micro-glitter.  If Absolutely Alice and Mad as a Hatter from the OPI Alice in Wonderland collection from 2009 got together and had a baby, Snow-Man of My Dreams would be the result!

My Sleigh’s in the Shop is a magenta glitter with tiny flecks of pale gold. The effect is a magnificent sparkling pink-purple shade for holiday 2011.

Glitter in My Stocking is a yellow-gold glitter with tiny flecks of tomato red. Almost the reverse of Orna-Ment For Each Other, this combo gives off a twinkle that’s anything but ordinary.

Each shade swatch is shown with three coats of polish, in order to obtain the saturation of glitter on the nails as shown. Two coats will deliver plenty of glitter if worn as a top coat over an existing shade by allowing it to peek through, while one coat will be offer a very light dusting of glitter. All three ways are pretty, but your personal preference will determine what works best for you. If I’m going to wear a glitter, I go for the gusto and try to get as complete coverage as possible!

I notice on most of the Nicole by OPI glitters that the clear base formula is a bit thinner than some other brands I’ve tried, which is both a pro and a con. The thinner base allows you to build up the glitter intensity without making the polish seem too thick on the nails, but I also find that the thinner base can be a little tricky during application to make the glitter apply evenly for full coverage. I’m still searching for that perfect glitter/base combo that allows the glitter to lay smoothly on the nail—as you can feel the texture on these if you run a finger over a dry nail. Any suggestions? If you are a glitter aficionado, you’ll definitely appreciate these shades. The season’s must-haves are Orna-Ment For Each Other and My Sleigh’s in the Shop.

Price & Availability: These limited edition Holiday Glitters will be available November 2011 for $7.99 each at HEB, Sears, Stage Stores, select Target locations, Target.com, and ULTA.
