Review: L’Oreal Visible Lift Smooth Absolute Instant Age-Reversing Foundation SPF 17

With the change of seasons, you may be tempted to switch up your foundation to accommodate the changes you’re noticing in your skin. Chilly temperature drops can often bring a dry, dull look to your complexion—and it’s a good idea switch up your foundation formula to see if it can help deliver the look you’re going for. At first, I balked at the notion of wearing a foundation called Visible Lift Smooth Absolute. For starters, I’m not at the stage in the game where I need anything lifted yet (at least I think I don’t!), and I’m often hesitant to put my stamp of approval on products that claim to do so. Regardless, I proceeded with L’Oreal’s Visible Lift with the hopes I’d find qualities within it that I’d appreciate.

As a personal preference, I choose to apply my liquid foundations with a foundation brush—Visible Lift has its own attached. With clicks of the collar on the bottle, the foundation will start to flow through the bristles. It will take several clicks to get started, and I find it’s best to apply it in sections on the face, one click at a time after it gets started, so that you don’t end up getting a concentration of product in one area (that could be hard to blend evenly). Surprisingly, the bristles on the brush are super soft, and they weren’t so stiff that they applied the product in streaks. Starting from the center of my face, and then working out as suggested worked best. I’m an NW 20, and I found that #162 Nude Beige was a great match, but Visible Lift is available in eight shades.

I’m actually BLOWN AWAY by how much I really like Visible Lift! While I can’t speak to any of the anti-aging benefits on a personal level, there are ingredients that suggest a cumulative benefit (Pro-Retinol A, Vitamin E, Collagen and Elastin). But the big surprise here is how this performs solely as a foundation for me. It gives fantastic medium-to-full coverage without feeling too thick, and it leaves a beautiful, naturally smooth and dewy finish that just looks like healthy and hydrated skin. It’s weightless, oil-free, has an SPF 17, offers even coverage, and just looks radiant. Going into winter, I suggest picking this up if you feel like your skin starts looking a little weathered once the winds start to whip and the snow falls. What would I change? I wish it came in more than eight shades.
