Just in case you missed it, Maybelline’s Original Great Lash Formula recently turned 40. The big 4-0 is a LONG time as a mascara authority, dontcha think? Fast forward—the mascara in the iconic tube has just gotten better (in my humble opinion)! But will it stand the test of time? Well…that depends on us lovelies, the consumers and beauty junkies of the world. Take a look to see if this is something you’d invest in, Maybelline’s Great Lash Lots of Lashes Mascara.
The cone brush (which is also kind of heart-shaped) provides that happy-medium between bland brushes and those that look like barbaric contraptions. (I’m talkin’ to YOU, Givenchy Phenomen’Eyes!) The cool thing about those barbaric looking brushes is that they not only work some pretty rockin’ magic on the lashes, but they allow you to get into every nook and cranny and reach those teeny, tiny corner lashes. Kudos to this Lots of Lashes brush, because I can do that with ease!
It may take some getting used to, but by the time I had moved on to my second eye, I was like an old pro with this brush. It makes coating bottom lashes a breeze, and I think it coated every lash I had! The formula isn’t too dry, and it’s not too moist, it sits right in-between and it won’t take a fortnight to dry. The wiper inside the neck of the tube removes any excess from the brush as you remove it from the tube and leaves the brush with just the right amount of formula on the brush.
You know how some mascaras promise you THE WORLD when you are lured into buying them? Maybelline Lots of Lashes doesn’t promise ridic things like it will help you parallel park your car, or butter your toast in the morning. It’s just simple—it will help you achieve lots o’ lashes, and I like that. When you look at my before and after, it’s just that—I look like I have more lashes than what I started out with, so it keeps its promise. One thing to look out for, try not to go to town by adding more than two to three coats. This formula dries pretty quickly and it could send you to clumpyville otherwise. But really, two coats should be sufficient and send you on your way to Lots of Lashesville instead.
