Zoya’s latest, Gems & Jewels gives us three new shimmering metallics, and three glitzy glitters for holiday 2011. I haven’t used any Zoya shades for a few months, so it was nice to fall right back into great quality and stunning shades. I can’t recall ever being let down by Zoya, and this collection keeps me happy! I appreciate that there’s a bit of holiday flare here, but it’s anything but the traditional red and greens that we often see for the season. I love that I can wear these shades and not think of Santa Claus if I wanted to wear one in March!
Noel is an icy, pale blue metallic with silver shimmer. Last year’s Zoya holiday collection provided a similar shade, Crystal—however Noel lacks the glitter, but still has the remarkable color quality.
Twila is a bright blue glitter in a clear base with holographic blue bar glitter.
Two coats of Noel and one coat of Twila, my fave combo!
Izzy is a bright fuchsia metallic with silver shimmer.
Kissy is a hot pink and ruby red glitter in a clear base with holographic bar glitter.
Two coats of Izzy with one coat of Kissy.
Holly is a fantastic emerald green metallic with silver shimmer.
Rina is an emerald green glitter in a clear base with both green bar glitter and the same blue bar glitter that you’ll find in Twila.
Two coats of Holly and one coat of Rina.
One thing is for sure, Zoya consistently nails their polish consistency! Noel, Izzy, and Holly give fantastic opaque coverage in just two coats, and the flow of the polish is perfect. This was my first time working with polishes that contain bar glitter, and it wasn’t as difficult as I feared. The glitters are more like glazes, and you’ll need two or three coats to obtain the intensity shown—but imagine them over totally opaque polishes. They’re stunning over black and white too!
