Review & Swatches: Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolors Collection for Holiday 2011

Say what you will about America’s current most famous TV family, but you have to admit—those Kardashian girls do have some style. Nicole by OPI recognizes their fashion savviness with 14 shades of their own nail polish, aptly dubbed—the Kardashian Kolors Collection.

“We are so excited to work with everyone’s favorite TV family – the Kardashians – to share a diverse collection of fashion-forward shades,” declares Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, Nicole by OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “With lacquers ranging from high-shine and sparkly hues to neutral taupe and pinkish coral, Kardashian Kolors offers the perfect accessory for every woman – from teens to moms and everyone in between.”

This post is very pic-heavy, but there are definitely some shades worth taking a gander at in-person too. This collection is a Walmart exclusive, and something tells me these will go rather quickly. If you see a shade you want, don’t wait!

Swatches and color descriptions…

Kourt is Red-y For a Pedi is a vibrant poppy red cream, which turned out to be my favorite of the bunch.

Khloe Had a Little Lam-Lam is a darkened emerald cream with a pop of teal. ‘Lam-Lam’ is what she often calls her husband, Lamar Odom from the Lakers.

All Kendall-ed Up is a bright pink cream.

Sealed With a Kris is a vampy dark red cream.

My Empire…My Rules is a creamy dark taupe with muted brown undertones.

Hard Kourt Fashionista is a dark chocolate cream.

Kim-pletely in Love is a sheer pink with subtle iridescent shimmer. Kim may not have gotten the man of her dreams, but at least she has a pink polish! Some minor balding occurred with this shade with two coats (shown), the addition of a thin third coat may help.

It’s All About the Glam is a slightly frosty white. This one reminds me of snow! It may also take a thin third coat to reach the desired opacity.

Listen To Your Momager! is a sparkling royal blue.

Disco Dolls is a glittery gold with added round multi-color glitter.

Kendall on the Katwalk is a very interesting shade! The base is a blue jelly—borderline turquoise—with green, sapphire blue, and purple micro-glitter. This is also one of my favorites.

Wear Something Spar-Kylie is a candy pink jelly with bright pink glitter.

Follow Me on Glitter contains silver micro-glitter, and round multi-color glitter in an almost black jelly base. It’s like an aurora borealis on your nails!

Rainbow in the S-Kylie is super similar to OPI’s Rainbow Connection, if not the same. I can’t spot any major differences, can you? This contains smaller multi-colored glitter, with medium and large hexagonal multi-colored glitter.

I didn’t have any major concerns within this collection in terms of quality, and all swatches shown have two coats of color, or ‘kolor’. I did find a little bit of a balding issue with Kim-pletely in Love, and It’s All About the Glam, but I think that could be easily controlled by letting the polish completely dry in-between thin coats. That way, you’re not disturbing previous coats of wet polish with the brush.
