Review: AVEENO Positively Ageless Lifting & Firming Eye Cream

Eye cream is one of those deserted island products for me, I can rarely stand to be without it. And for good reason, too! The skin under the eyes is about ten times thinner than the skin on the face. I once read that our eyes can produce over 10,000 movements a day—and that’s about 10,000 more chances to develop fine lines around such a delicate area. If you cry a lot, have allergies, or have a tendency to rub your eyes, all of those things contribute to damaging the skin’s elasticity too. As if we didn’t have enough to worry about!

Taking care of the skin around our eyes is very important, as is choosing an eye cream that can not only help prevent damage to the area, but also to help reduce the appearance of fine lines, darkness, and puffiness. I think I’ve found something to help my own under eye issues, and it’s AVEENO’s Positively Ageless Lifting & Firming Eye Cream

Right out of the pump, the cream has a nice consistency—it’s not too thick, and not too thin. I have a tendency to develop milia under my eyes whenever I’m using an eye cream that’s too rich, and with Positively Ageless Lifting & Firming, I haven’t had any issues after a few weeks of use. I also find that the cream is slightly brightening around my eye area, since there’s a small amount of mica in the product—it offers some subtle luminosity.

With this product, AVEENO is utilizing the antioxidant benefits of the Shiitake mushroom, which has shown in clinical trials to rejuvenate and enhance the skin, making it look more youthful. While I can’t say that I’ve taken years off of my eyes by using Positively Ageless, I do notice that my squint lines appear to have softened a bit, and my eyes look more well-rested. Also, when I wake up in the morning, I’m a little puffy under my eyes and this eye cream helps bring some of that puffiness down.

Bottom Line: I think this eye cream is prestige quality, at a drug store price.

Price & Availability: About $18, mass retailers and drugstore.com

Thank you for reviewing this. I too have the tendency to get milia around my eyes, so it is nice to learn about a product that is beneficial but doesn’t seem to add to the milia issue. Thanks!
