Review: David Evangelista Beauty Pouf! Texturizing & Volumizing Powder and Hush… Volumizing Dry Shampoo

My hair is so thin and fine, that nearly every time my stylist blows it out, she remarks at how wispy it is. “I KNOW! I deal with it every single day!” I have to keep myself from shrieking at her. But she’s a sweetheart, and adorable, and let’s face it, she patiently puts up with the constant changing and revolving of my hairstyles to try to accommodate my fringy, stubborn tresses.  After watching the HSN presentation for David Evangelista Pouf! Texturizing & Volumizing Powder and Hush… Volumizing Dry Shampoo, I held hope that I too could have voluptuous strands someday.

On the day after shampooing and conditioning (I’m usually a dedicated cleanse and condition every day type of gal, but with the promise of a thick and healthy mop, I will break my vow), I flipped my head upside down and sprayed my roots and crown with the dry shampoo. After letting it work its magic for a minute or so, I combed it through from roots to tips to ensure an even application. Suddenly my ‘greasies’ were tamed without the powder or cakey residue that some dry shampoos can leave behind. It also had a clean scent, and convinced me that a dry shampoo can actually make my hair feel clean without weighing it down.

The real ‘aha! moment’ for me was the Pouf! Texturizing Powder. After watching a short tutorial on how to actually work it into my roots, and ‘tap’ it into my hair, I realized a very va-va-voom kind of volume that I had never seen before in my lifeless bristles. I felt like a Victoria’s Secret model, as I flipped my buoyant new coiffure to one side and then the other, marveling at the bounce and structure that my usually limp locks now exhibited. In order to clinch my new ‘do, I sprayed all of my hair with a firm-hold hairspray, and off I went—feeling very confident and sexy. For several hours, I had hair that I have always dreamed of.  I would suggest closing the cap to the Pouf! powder tightly, and tossing it into your clutch (its packaging is small), for throughout-the-night touch-ups. Very impressive stuff—I do believe it is a revolutionary product, and I will definitely make it a part of my everyday arsenal against my baby-fine hair.

Bottom Line: Both Pouf! and Hush… definitely added volume to my fine, limp locks as promised.

I so want to try dry shampoos because my hair tends to get limp in after a day of wash. But the first thing I want to try is batiste. is it any good? I may give it a try only if it is available to India. Is it? checking out the site. Thanks.

As I expected, they do not ship to India. :) Thanks for the review. I’ll remember the names so i grab some as soon as I spot them around on WWW. <3

Hi Shoppingaholic, bummer that these products aren’t available in India. If you have access to Batiste, it’s great and is one of the popular dry shampoos here in the States! The only problem is, I’m not too crazy about its fragrance.

My hair is very thin and fine too and I always have a problem holding a style. I was never a believer of dry shampoo until I started using Klorane dry shampoo. It smells great, gives me volume and actually cleans my hair when it’s dirty. You should check it out too.

Hi Mary, I love Klorane! It was one of the first dry shampoos I tried several years ago :)

It really worked, hmm, I’m gonna have to check it out.
