Your Skin, But Better: NARS ‘Pure Radiant’ Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30/PA+++

Long gone are the days of your foundation entering the room before you do, and if yours is—it’s the perfect time to make the switch. Spring is drawing swiftly upon us, which is usually about bright, fresh, and glowy skin—and you’re probably not going to get that look with a full coverage foundation. Start saying your goodbyes now!

Make way for NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer, and it’s just that—purely radiant—with an SPF 30 to protect you on all those days where you spend more time running around town than you’d really want to. That is, unless it’s running indoors to pick up this new Nordstrom exclusive product—and did you know they even have ‘Beauty Stylists’ now? As in, your own personal beauty shopper? Check that service out next time you’re there, it’s amaze!

As an NW20, I converted to Pure Radiant shade Alaska, and while I was initially worried that it would be too dark for my fair skin, it was almost like magic as I applied it. It didn’t settle in my pores, it sat right on top and gave my skin the kind of radiant glow that I often employ an army of luminizers to do! My skin felt and looked so perfectly hydrated for the day, that I was in disbelief. Zero oxidation (nothing worse than having your face change colors when you least expect it), and the mineral-rich seawater in this baby did its job. Less oil slick, and more moisture—now that’s the ticket! With nine shades available, head into Nordies and get color-matched, even grab a sample if you’re just not sure if it’s really for you yet!

Bottom Line: Use this for beautiful, sheer color that keeps skin moist and looking fresh all day.

Price & Availability: $42, Nordstrom exclusive and nordstrom.com

Don’t forget to follow @NordstromBeauty on Twitter and Facebook to snag a freebie every Saturday. Each Friday, Nordstrom gives a sneak peek of its sample of the week. Check it out via social media and then head to your nearest store to enjoy…absolutely free.

UPDATE: Reader Marie requested a swatch of Alaska on my hand. Please note that I’m an NW20, but my arms and hands are not! I have a lot of redness in my face thanks to my Irish heritage, but this shade actually does a great job of toning down that red in my facial skin. You’ll look at this swatch and think NO WAY! But the way it looks on my pasty hand is not indicative of how it looks on my face.

I’ve been looking around for a good tinted moisturizer. Great suggestion.. didnt even know they had one..

  • Vicki

Sounds amazing!! I’m Canadian and can only get this online right now. I am also a NW20, light with pink undertones. I am pretty sure Alaska is my shade as well. But one question, do you also have pink undertones in your skin??

  • Amber

Hi Vicki, my skin is really pink. When it comes out of the tube, you’ll be like ‘NO WAY’, but then it blended in perfectly.

Vanessa, this is a brand spankin’ new product! I just learned about it last week :)

  • Vicki

    Awesome!! Thanks Amber! :)

  • Celine

Thanks for the review, because I’ve been thinking about when Spring and Summer comes around I will want to switch to a tinted foundation for a not so heavy feel for when it’s gets hot out. I will for sure grab this as a tester next time I go to Sephora to give it a try. It looks really nice on your skin as well :)

  • Amber

Thanks so much Celine! I really like it. Sadly, it’s a Nordstrom exclusive for now, so it won’t be at Sephora. But Nordstrom is really good about giving samples too—that way you can try before you buy!

This sounds awesome! You skin is really glowing.

  • Amber

    Thanks Harshleen!

  • Sasha

Im wondering if its oil free or if they have an oil free version. Every time I think I’ve found the perfect tm, I look in the mirror to a grease face.

  • Amber

You’re in luck, Sasha! Here’s what the Nordstrom site says:

The advanced, oil-free formula provides a translucent veil of color and sun protection while helping to reduce the appearance of hyper-pigmentation and dark spots in just four weeks. Kopara from French Polynesia and mineral-rich seawater revive and re-mineralize skin for a softer, smoother and brighter glow.

  • Marie

Thanks for the review! Your skin looks radiant. I can’t wait to get my hands on the tinted moisturizer.
Can you post a picture of a heavy and a light swatch on your hand, please? It would be super helpful to get a good idea of the shade! Thanks. :)

  • Amber

Hi Marie, I’ll do that for you this morning! The color will indeed look way off because my hand and inner arms are super pale (I’m Irish), but you’ll get the idea. Also, like I was telling Vicki, as an NW20, you’ll look at this color and say NO WAY! But I promise it blends down great!

  • Marie

Thank you so much, Amber, that’s very sweet of you. :)
It’s really helpful! I am pretty pale myself , and my face is really red too (just like you) so your swatches are welcome.
    Thank you again! :)

Too bad in Canada the same product doesn’t have SPF in it. I wrote Nars to ask if that was the case and they said it doesn’t include SPF even though the sample I received at their counter was obviously a US sample and had the SPF in it.
