Review & Swatches: bareMinerals Trend Report 5-Piece Frill Seeker Collection

I spied this 5-piece color collection from bareMinerals on QVC last month, and I couldn’t stop thinking about it! There was something about this combination of shades calling my name, and I’m so glad I’m able to share my experience with it. You may remember those ‘Face of Fashion’ kits that bareMinerals used to put out each season, and I haven’t seen a new one in a while. I learned that they’ve been replaced with ‘Trend Report‘ kits instead. I really think these smaller collections from bareMinerals are genius, because they’re the perfect, no-brainer gift, and they also make it easy to recreate the look that the models have in the cover photos. Additionally, they’re a pretty decent value—and that’s always a good thing.

The Frill Seeker collection is the first release in the Trend Report series, here’s what’s included:

  • Splendid Eyecolor (deep gilded bronze)
  • Mademoiselle Eyecolor (peach champagne satin)
  • Sweet Cheeks Blush (candied pink)
  • Round the Clock Waterproof Eyeliner (black, not pictured)
  • Exuberance Pretty Amazing Lipgloss (strawberry pink)

The look

This is a fab combination of colors for a sassy spring look, but I love the eyeshadows inside Frill Seeker most. Both will easily switch out to mix with other makeup looks with the existing products in your makeup collection, since Splendid and Mademoiselle are pretty timeless. I love the creamy texture of the eyecolors and find them easy to blend.

The Exuberance lip color isn’t like the early releases of the Pretty Amazing line—the original product was a full coverage lip cream. Pretty Amazing as a gloss formula offers medium coverage instead, but still feels pretty creamy on the lips. My kit was missing the Round the Clock eyeliner by mistake, but it’s a pencil liner in black with long-wear capabilities. Just the smallest amount of Sweet Cheeks works as a blush, it’s super concentrated with color—less is more.

Bottom Line: If you’re a gal with green, hazel, or brown eyes—these eyeshadows were made for you! The blush adds a nice flush to cheeks for spring, while the Exuberance lip color works well on both warm and cool skin tones. This is a really good value of product for the current price.

Price & Availability: originally $34, currently on sale for $19.50; sephora.com and bareescentuals.com

Thanks Celine! It was seriously a 5-minute look. It’s pretty easy!

I love the way you did your makeup with this collection! However, I hate the way they did it; looks like bad 80s makeup! If I had seen this in the store without seeing how you’ve applied it, I would have to say I would skip it.

I love these kits, especially since they give you colors that you can’t buy separately! I received the Putting on the Glitz kit this Christmas and still haven’t opened it. I think I need to remedy that tonight!

Thanks, Shauna! I didn’t want to take Splendid that much past the crease like in the photo, glad you like the final result. I know both shadows would look amazing on you!
